Anyone have any problem running Dakars like this? It seems to kill all the squeaks. Just removed the threaded bolt.

    I have Dakars on a 2nd gen.
I would not run them without that bolt. That is just me though. :anonymous:

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I have the Wheelers 3 leaf pack on my First Gen Tundra for years and I don't have the bolt.

Not sure I would, but also I dont think anything will explode. Probably would just bend that bracket if you didnt have the bolt in.

Theres lots of discussion on here about greasing or otherwise lubricating between leaf packs when the truck is fully drooped out to try and get rid of squeaks

I know people who greased their leaf springs back in the '80's who REALLY regretted doing that, as they end up squeaking even louder eventually. Given the choice, I would tend to try nylon spacers.

The squeeking on mine is fucking terrible. Sounds like a shitty old car, even tho the suspension is less than 2 years old. If taking that bolt out is safe, then I might have to try that. On a different note, are there any leaf packs that don't squeek?

The bolt on that bracket (rebound clip) is meant to keep your leaf pack from separating when you fully droop out. Under certain circumstances, (usually undertorqued fasteners- center pin and u bolts), the leaves in the pack can rotate and fan out slightly. If you find yourself in that 1000:1 position of your leaf pack drooped out and the pack rotates, then they could dislodge from the bracket and could potentially damage anything near and around the rear suspension such as your gas tank, emergency brake cable, hard brake lines near the axle, etc..). It's not completely unlikely, but its definitely not impossible.
Do what you want with that info.

Try a longer bolt just not as tight, dont pull the leaf keeper against the leafs. I'd try that and see what happens.. lubeeee helps, full droop it and fluid film it.
