    Welcome to TW!

Doesnt sound normal, could be pretty dangerous at times. Happens to me here and there, maybe 10-15 times over 20k km (12k miles) Last few months didnt happen at all. When it does happen, i go in second and back into first.

Hopefully it will loosen up over time or like tonered suggested change the fluid, seems to make a big difference for a lot of guys. Im still rocking factory fluid, seem to work for me for now.

If changing fluid doesnt work for you, i would definitely push the stealer to fix this shit, that is not normal. I hate dealing with them and you really gotta fight and push them hard to get shit done, unfortunately.

Good luck man! Let us know the outcome.

Thats how my ranger was for 7 years, i tried changing fluid, nothing. It didnt get better or worse just same , was a bit better in summer tho.

There was a very specific way to do it, none of my friends could shift into 1st or R unless i told them how, that tranny was very strange.

The good thing i knew nobody would steal it haha!

It happens to me from time to time. It has happened with other cars in other brands. I think it’s normal. Put back on neutral or shift to 2nd and it usually goes into 1st immediately.

Same. My father's ranger can be real tough to get into first sometimes and my mustang does it on rare occasions. Go into 2nd then it goes into 1st no problem.

Every toyota truck with a manual that Ive driven does this. Just put it in neutral, cycle the clutch and it goes in just fine.

Mine does it the odd time. Double clutch makes it go in smooth as butter.

As much as i enjoy my manual, i do sometimes wonder if life would have just been easier if I had gotten an auto.. sure woulda liked the smart key!

^ change the fluid. It’s a 10 minute job and I’m guessing this will fix it

Hard or impossible to put into 1st after reversing or coming to a stop sometimes? My 92 did it, my 04 does it, my pops 08 does it. Double clutch it real quick and it goes in fine.

Well that's the thing, isn't it? Nothing is every perfect, but I am continuously frustrated by ATs and only very rarely frustrated with MTs.
