    Hey guys,

Just joined so scold me if i'm in the wrong forum. I am looking at a truck and thinking about purchasing. The only concern is the multiple owner on the car fax since it is only a 2018.

    https://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/p/Report.cfx?partner=DPR_0&vin=3TMDZ5BN6JM040420

It was however originally bought at this dealer and maintenanced there its whole life (including second sale). Should I be concerned its a lemon or something?

    Thanks

I wouldn't worry. Nothing looks strange there to me. It is two sales but there are a lot of reasons that could have happened.

I trade in trucks like underwear, looking at the service history doesnt appear to be anything besides routine maintanence, I wouldnt hesitate, people buy and trade all the time, too small, change of taste, etc.

Why not just buy a brand new 2019, I believe they have about a 2 grand rebate and doubt it would be much more than a used 2018.

Yeah I have been looking at that as well. I've emailed every dealer in Washington state and many in Oregon and Idaho. Apparently there are only about 6 off roads left of 2019 crew cab long beds and the lowest quote i've gotten so far is 38k with 42k being the highest. Now I could spend the extra 4 grand for new or save that for a canopy or other upgrades. Not sure what I want to do here. Its hard!!

Seems fine. I once traded in a car after 6 months. But seeing how important it is to you... then your peace of mind may be worth the 4K for new.

    Yeah.
Only thing that looks funny to me are those 2 early trips to Bayshore Auto Repair, but nothing odd after that. Seems solid if it's a fair deal.

After some thought, check and see if the windshield is OEM. My buddy has had nothing but problems with TSS after an aftermarket windshield replacement.

34.9k OTD Honestly the best deal I've seen so far and this one comes with a canopy. 30k miles. Life it tough up here in Washington for off road long bed shoppers

Yeah, but it's got 30,000 miles, that's 2-3 years of miles. I'd go new, but the used is probably fine too, unfortunately, you gotta buy it to try it.

Two owners in two years is a little odd, but I wouldn't be too concerned. Now three in two years and I wouldn't even consider it.
Will the dealer share contact info for the last owner of 7 months? A conversation with them would be enlightening.

I've done the same thing as well.

I wouldn't worry. Ask the dealer for maintenance records, if there's nothing scary in there, go for it.

I don't know, there are 2 services you could ask the dealer about: at 273 miles and 1259 miles. Those do not appear to be normal service intervals so maybe they had to fix something. Worth asking.

As for price, I paid just under that for my new 2019 OR with all the rebates and cash back-SB though. And it did not have a cap which is definitely worth a couple thousand. Can't tell for sure but looks to be a nice one with side opening windows. Sounds like the market in WA might be a bit tight so pickens may be slim for low mileage newer model.

However since the price is so close to new, I would go that route myself and:

    - Eliminate any concerns of vehicle issues
    - gain 1-2 years of use
    - gain 30k miles
    - gain full warranty
    - gain lower finance rate since banks will give a lower rate for new than used.

With a lower finance rate it might be a wash for paying $1000 more for new.

A few years back I purchased a Ford Certified used F250 diesel out of state and caught a ride down to Missouri. Stayed overnight at a local hotel, and drove it home on the 4th of July. I was home in time to catch fireworks and cold beer.

Not sure how far away you are, but here is a brand new 2020 LB at Kendall Toyota in Eugene, OR for $35,893. A no-brainer to me:

    https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=533055493&zip=98114&referrer=/cars-for-sale/searchresults.xhtml?zip=98114&listingTypes=NEW&bodyStyleSubtypeCodes=FULLSIZE_CREW%2BCOMPACT_CREW&sortBy=derivedpriceASC&incremental=all&firstRecord=0&marketExtension=on&modelCodeList=TACOMA&makeCodeList=TOYOTA&searchRadius=300&trimCodeList=TACOMA%7CTRD+Off-Road&listingTypes=NEW&numRecords=25&firstRecord=0&modelCodeList=TACOMA&makeCodeList=TOYOTA&searchRadius=300&makeCode1=TOYOTA&modelCode1=TACOMA&clickType=listing

Good luck with your truck shopping. I did go direct to their website and this particular truck is not listed so the autotrader ad could be new or old. Dealers will also do a search and find you what you are looking for. May be worth asking them to find one for you.
