I think/thought the correct wording for ect is changing the shift points. When I read preventing up shifting to 5th I thought that was incorrect because it shouldn’t prevent you from going into any gear… that would be s4 that would prevent up shifting to 5th. But I’m a nobody that knows nothing on the www

I also use ect daily in either s4 or s5

That’s why it never went into 6th- you just stated that you left it in s5 (which will prevent going into 6th)

It just means if you are in "D" ... as soon as you let off of the gas or reach the speed determined by the position of the pedal... the transmission will automatically shift to 5th gear. Ect prevents this from happening in "D" mode. If in "S", the gear selected is the highest it will let the transmission go.
Ect does not prevent the truck from using any gear in the truck. Just on how quickly it upshifts to it.

    Yes you misunderstood
It's always on unless you push the button to turn it off. Default is change to on.

Ok, I didn’t know D was part of the equation- I must of missed that.

truthfully I wouldn’t have a clue because after the first 2 weeks of forcefully driving in d no ect (just to get a feel for it) I’ve never used drive again. To me D is technically/imo is ECO mode

Well, evidently my truck tows best at 55mph in S5 and ECT on. Even in S6 and ECT on, my truck stays in 5th gear. I've never had it faster than 55-60, so there's that! lol

it does. the first link explains the mod however he does not supply them anymore. since he stopped supplying them another person started to supply them (second link). you need to PM the second link and see if he can make you one. ECT is ON at start up. i could not have survived my truck without this mod!
