    Hey, y'all...

I picked up my first Tacoma recently, a purple 99 automatic 4 banger. I'm in love.

She's got 42k on her, original.

Now, everything works great and she's in great shape, the one issue is that she's getting less gas mileage than I was expecting. She's getting 16-17 city and 19 highway. I was under the impression that I could expect 20ish city and 25 highway.

My mechanic said I don't need to do anything but I'm wondering if there are a few things I SHOULD do in order to maybe get some more miles out of the gas.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have a 98 with the same engine and mileage. Was hoping there would be more posts on this. Im running standard size tires and speedo is correct according to gps. I also have over 300K mi. Just adjusted the valves and she runs great, just wish I could get better mpg
