Its going on a PPQ Q5 so remove the rear sight, so no co-witness. It will be a range gun for the most part. I just wanna be able to shoot it at 100yds like some youtubers said they can. Idk if 6moa is too little and I should go for 3moa. Theres a similarly priced vortex that is 3moa, but from what I understand the viper if higher end.

This what to expect in size. Remember that at 100y 6 moa is about 6.3 inches. So that dot will cover a 6 inch radius of that target. If the “bullseye” is 3 inches that reduces hit probability by 50%. These 6 and 9 moa dots exist as a method of faster target acquisition like in self defense or uspsa type competition where a target isn’t 100y away, usually point blank to 35 depending on the match rules.

Okok I see, so this would be a little better for home defense than what I talking about

To clarify, I’m not giving a product review on the venom specifically. That won’t end well when people start defending the products they like. I’m just strictly talking about the dot size. If 100y slow fire is your goal, you’ll have a more fine aiming point. 6 moa is obviously in the middle of the extremes but you can see what I mean about considering a smaller dot if you grab a tape measure + sharpie and draw a 3 inch square on some paper and put it 100y away. The 6 moa dot will cover what you see at that aiming point at that distance. If your goal is to hit a 36 inch human silhouette at a 100y then it doesn’t matter. Depends what you’re doing at 100y, but even in this large of a target, a 3 moa dot still makes it easier.

I run this optic on my P07, EDC and IDPA competition:

It is good for those purposes, you just have to be anal about turning it on upon holstering it for the first time. 14hr auto shutoff is nice. I grab it, turn it on, use it, then store it. Were I to put another handgun together to do "everything" I'd go RMR, DPP, or Acro (on top of a longer striker fired handgun like a P10F). All of these have the battery life to be left on 24/7/365, with annual battery replacements.

Thats pretty damn good tbh, but I went with the Vortex Venom instead. $170 so I said screw it. 3MOA which I think is better for me since I have pretty good eyesight and want to shoot at long ranges with my gun.

I love everything about the venom except the battery, a 1632 isn't as common as I want. However having used my buddies on his 5" ported M&P 2.0 I do think it's the superior optic.

Check and make sure it's a full 16". It'd suck to get whacked by the ATF because your shit was 15.95 or something silly like that.

I want to go shoot it like that, no red dot first, then try it with the red dot. The problem is I probably wont get to use it with the red dot for a while if I dont use it rn...but if I use the red dot now Ill never shoot it without...decisions decisions

You will like that Venom, I have two of them one is on my G19. I used clear fingernail polish on my screws instead of locktite and it is holding just fine so far.

I would mount the dot and try it that way, if you don’t like the dot re-mount the irons and at least get some dry fire in with the iron sights.

The red dot will take some time to get used to, You might not like it when you first use it. But you will after you get used to it.
