Water Bypass Pipe No.1

We are approaching winter here in the Northeast with some cold temperatures and without a garage to replace the pipe, spring with warmer temperatures will be when I plan to replace it, if it holds out till then.

 

Just keep a close eye on the coolant level and you should be good to go

 

I checked mine daily after i realized it was leaking while i was waiting on my pipe to come in

 

I need to do mine now. I was just checking where hoses went, trying to figure out what hoses I could easily replace as preventative maintenance and I barely touched/wiggled the upward barb/nipple or whatever you call it along the firewall and it busted.. . at least it didn't do it on the road or somewhere other than at home.


any recommendation of other P#s to replace other than the pipe and subsequent gasket that goes with it?
Hoses? PVC lines?
Anyone have the P#s for the soft lines that come off of the Heater core?

I'm picking up like 25 parts from my local dealer, the one in the link, for $10.00. So almost free shipping if you pickup. I even ordered a new front grille.

 

I will check my local dealer im sure their price is more than $10 though. Dude... . It's not $10 for the pipe. I ordered a bunch of parts thru the website and it's $10 for them to collect and store the parts until I pick them up. They have to pay for shipping stuff to them if they don't have it in stock so it's essentially a shipping and processing charge.

 

While I don't dispute that there may be an issue with the water pipe, there is no logic to support your assumption that a "problem" has been in any way "acknowledged" based on a part being changed. Improving something does not necessarily mean that there was something wrong with what is being improved upon.

2005-2015 models and the 2016+ is a minor change to the shape of the body panels. Does the fact that they changed the shape of the body panels imply that Toyota has "acknowledged" that there was a problem with the body panel shape?

 

odd argumentative line there. The plastic parts that bolt to the engine and transmission fail randomly. some experience it as little as 60K miles in my very short amount of research. Manifold removal is not easy. This part was not meant to be changed out like a typical coolant line.

@pwrslide2 dont even bother responding to this guy. He goes all over the forums and makes comments like these just to start shit. Best to just ignore folks like this. Obviously toyota saw the problem with the plastic pipes and made the change to metal ones around 2010. No point in debating that with this guy. Toyota didnt upgrade them to steel bc that would help their bottom line lol. They did it to cover their own ass

What's oddly Ironic is that BMW M and S series motors have a coolant line like this and my 98M3 does have a tiny leak coming out of it randomly (127K). Slightly different design. Metal, however and not many issues for BMW owners. but mainly the gaskets go bad or the pipe rusts(not SS on most motors but they did upgrade to SS on some over the years). equally hard to replace if not harder because there is a massive rats nest of wiring, coolant, PCV and IAC lines under there.
