Don’t get me wrong. I’m very happy to finally have my Taco. Fell in love 12/13/19 when she came home with me. I love it and looking forward to loading up the bikes. I’ve been wanting to go from my IS250 to a Tacoma for two years.

Well......my FOMO kicked in after the famous, and totally awesome Operation Sloppy Taco. Should I have gotten a 4x4? Are other Taco drivers looking over at me and scoffing at my decal that reads “Tacoma Sport”? Am I worthy of the Taco “What’s Up” & thumbs up?

I just have to ask and put myself out there lol.

Thanks for the read. Hope everyone has an awesome day!:spam:

im a fan of 4wd. and in the end the sport is the better option if you want to actually upgrade anything on it, anything above a sport and you will pull off items you paid for as you upgrade.

My Sport is a 4x4. However, I did pull the decal and most of the badges. :anonymous: No immediate scoffs from me.

My gf always laughs at this when I get all mod jelly / truck envy, saying "no one cares about your truck besides you and other dudes" which lets be honest is true. You probably saved a bunch of money getting the 2wd over 4wd and if your honest with yourself probably will never need or use the 4wd, and all the money saved not maintaining a 4wd truck over 2wd. Its all about perspective, you can spend yourself into the poor house trying to chase the mod bug / truck jelly itch only to be impressing yourself and some random strangers on IG. Keep it and just make it yours!

Sport 2WD crew here. I know exactly what I want in a truck, and this one works fine for me. A light duty, garden store running, weekend camper tow pig that occasionally sees dirt and snow.

Know what you want, and make it unique to you.

Oh, and edit, don't let this site give you the green-eyed monster complex. If I dont take a step back sometimes Id have a Long-Travel three-shifter beast that in no way would I be able to afford.

If Operation Sloppy Taco triggered your FOMO, stay away from the NorCal wheeling thread.

If you intend to venture in to the great outdoors, I've been to plenty of places that are accessable to 2WD (when the roads aren't covered with snow).

@Rock Lobster - Thank you for that. Yeah, my goal was some camping, biking, beach trips, and some flea market grabs. I can't wait to make it unique to me.

I'm glad you didn't go broke on your Long-Travel three-shifter beast hahahaha. I'm going to google that lol.

My first 2nd gen was an 08 prerunner sport, I used to wheel it all the time when I was stationed in AZ, no issues except in sand with 2wd, just upgrade your tires, tires are a majority of it.

@jAndyMendo - Thank you! Nice upgrades you have!

@TacoBuffet Thank you. I don't want to go broke lol. For now, new sound, rook rack, and side step (my girlfriend is short lol).

@ian408 I will bring some Nori for you. I'm not a fan, but all my fam loves it. I'm hungry.

No problem, seriously though you could grap a set of wildpeaks for like $650, sell you stock take off's to recoup some of the cost. A good set of tires are totally worth their weight in gold.

Nope, sold it in 2012 for my 2011 4WD AC when I got stationed in NJ, one winter in NJ with 2wd was too many for me.
