Yup. That's what they had and were hacking up a lung all week long complaining of their throat hurting. Boss is out today too. It's really not a good day for me to be out. We're breaking ground on an addition to the building today which is my project.

it’s a traction engine, notice all the drive wheels are the same size, it also has a drive shafts that connects all eight wheels, they were used primarily in the mountains for hauling lumber and coal on less than perfect tracks,

Good morning. Cold again today but they claim it will warm up this weekend. Both my Unit Heads retire soon and have a retirement dinner to attend tonight. Great, now I have to break in my new Managers. Maybe I should just retire too.

Happy anniversary to the both of you RJ!

Most places I lived they were narrow gauge in the mountains for hauling timber. Mn. is the only place been where they were standard gauge width. See them all over the Country and even in Canada. I know most people think Paul Bunyan used Babe the Blue Ox to haul timber out of the woods in Mn. but really it was the Railroad. Honestly.

Once the timber was harvested in the Arrowhead the US started heavily into steel production. Some of the tracks were kept down and not pulled up and used to move the ore from the Iron Range to Lake Superior so it could be taken to the plants back East. Friend of mine in Silver Bay retired last year as an electrician for a mining company, they are owned by a railroad company.

Most of the old tracks were pulled in the Arrowhead and like many other places became roads. The main East to West road through the Arrowhead is called "The Grade" because that is what it was. Some places it is only wide enough for one vehicle, but it is the main highway. Some of the train spurs were only used in the winter. They would lay ties and track down on top of the snow and frozen lakes and bogs. The North\South Lima Grade road still does not go all the way through today. Except in the winter with snowmobile or dog sled.

I can agree to that, it's not easy for a city girl to put up with this Florida redneck!! BUT, she obviously knew going in..

That is freaking awesome, Fleet Farm for me! And the Piggly Wiggly. I like StoneRidge smoked meats (and cheese) so when I go through or near Wautoma, Wi. I will stop at the headquarters at the Piggly Wiggly there.

Pretty sure you posted it or maybe I stumbled across it by accident but just watched another one by him a couple of days ago. It is also spot on and worth posting again.
