So, my new Taco is my first pickup.

When washing it by hand - what do you do with the bed? Get in and soap it up, hose it out? I assume it drains, but if I were to go through a touchless wash I should remove the bed mat?

I feel dumb for asking...so feel free to let me know how stupid of a question this is!

Yes. It is part of the truck.

only remove bed mat every 6 months or so and after a mud balling run

Do you have a pressure attachment for your hose? I just go to the local car wash place and spray it out well by hand. Do you have a place near you that isn’t a drive through but a pay to spray yourself place? Usually cheaper and much cleaner if you can scrub it by hand.

I’d pull the bed mat out and spray it all down separately.

It all depends how clean you want it. There’s nothing wrong with upkeep. I have a friend who’s washed and waxed his truck every Sunday in the summer for the last 15 years. Props to him. Mine stays full of wood chips, scrapes, dirt, snow, paint, tools, whatever.. so I don’t care much about the bed.

All up to you, man. Not a dumb question at all.

Well, it's not THE stupidest question I've ever seen...

The only soap that's ever gotten IN the bed of my truck is over spray, lol

I just open the tailgate and hose out the chunks. Maybe sweep it out first.

I also have a rough bedliner coating, so it would just tear up a sponge anyway.

Just depends on how dirty it is, and what you want to do with it. If you're putting a topper on it and want to sleep inside, I'd probably take the extra time to try and get that manure smell out of it first, lol.

My bed is all scratched to hell anyway, so it's not like cleaning it will make it look any better. Dirt hides the scratches...
