The rarest of unicorns...a bottle of Canadian beer WITHOUT a twist off cap....they must have heard all my whinging and whining and caterwauling about tradition yesterday.
Small batch, all gone...they are trying to decide if they should do it again
Not what i would think of as a Christmas quaff - more suited to a hot summer day beside the lake, methinks - but is lovely....very tart, like the local sour cherries it is made with, very little hoppiness, crisp and refreshing...goes down way too easy :p

No zombies yet. I checked. And we don't know about the sun and the moon, since we haven't seen either for two weeks, and likely won't until April. When it finally stops raining.

I have yet to drink anything made with blood oranges that was not great...my guess would be that the flavour would nicely complement an IPA....

After three weeks of bottle conditioning I popped open my first black IPA. Looks good, nice aroma but a little disappointed with hop flavor - weak. Five ounces of Columbus hops for five gallons, with the last ounce for the dry hopping.

That app gets really old. Takes away from drinking and enjoying your beer. I forced myself to 1k uniques and just was over it. I only use it now to look up beers that I may or may not want to try

You use it to look up beers you "may or may not want to try" but you say it takes away from drinking and enjoying beer??? That's the reason I use it myself! I see if I want to buy a beer and how others enjoyed it. Keep posting mah brother and join the group!

It’s different when you’re looking up a beer you may or may not want versus taking a drink, getting that perfect photo, then going into the app and debating what you think of it.

Usually the reason I open it before I purchase a beer is for the simple fact that the case doesn't have the ABV on it. Then I enjoy it, post it, and take a shitty photo of it on my german heater I dont use :D Never debated a beer on this app so I guess I'm missing something lol

You’ll learn once you start checking in a lot. It’s not that great. The only reason I remember the last time I opened it was because I was checking on Sunday to see if any others had reported their bottle of Number Crunch being infected, or if I had just gotten unlucky. It’s a shittier Instagram for beer. Just drink your beer and enjoy it

Last Celebration in the fridge. Got at least 3 recipes lined up to brew so I won’t be buying much more for awhile.

Speaking of homebrew, my dark mild has really let me down. It’s my fault for using a yeast that is a well known poor attenuator, but I thought with a low OG I might be ok. After pitching another pack of a different yeast, the FG just won’t drop below 1.022. It’s looking like a 2% beer. I’ll probably bottle half the batch and see how they come out. I’m afraid of it being too sweet. We shall see.

Not often I am truly blown away by a quaff, but this one did it....(OMG, Valley Girl shriek!!)

Not sure about it tasting like Creme Brulee - my dessert tastes run to pies and chocolate and Naniamo Bars - but it is amazing...

The vanilla is very strong, with a wonderful bitter chocolate finish, and enough spice - of all things - to bite back.

And that 8% catches you by surprise.

    Wow.

    A-maze-zing

A local(ish) brewery, on Saltspring Island....not bad for an island known pretty much only for hippies and sheep. There are people there that are still packing their Birkenstocks and getting ready to head to Woodstock. The original one, I mean.
