    Hey everyone,

Just out of curiosity, were there other vehicles you were considering when you were shopping/buying your Tacoma? For me, the Tacoma was top of my list, followed by the new Honda Passport and possibly another mid-size SUV. Once I test drove the Tacoma (the one I ended up buying) I didn't even think about the other options.

Just curious, was anything else on your mind?

I was considering the Ranger at the time, only because Ford had tremendous rebates. I now own a TRD OR and in no way shape or form regret not getting the Ford

Nope. Only wanted the Tacoma. Knew what I wanted. Bought it. Didn't even test drive.

I considered another tundra, traded in my 11 rock warrior for the 19 taco.

I'd really rather have a Jeep but until they aren't a total piece of garbage I'll stick with the reliable brand.

Tundra (to big but if i lived in a more rural area i would have bought it)
Ranger (uncle works for ford and told me to stay away for a few years)
    Colorado/canyon (this was a 2nd)
    Frontier (3rd)
Tacoma checked off more boxes reliability, design, features, price, aftermarket availability

If i could have bought a 1st gen Tundra access cab i would have. A little longer than the tundra but with a v8.

I considered the Ranger but don't like the start-stop tech. The tacoma is a much more aggressive looking truck as well. The Ranger also looks like the Colorado. I have owned two Frontiers with no issues but they never changed the design.

Tundra, but 90% of my driving it's just me in the truck, 5% is with another person in the front, and 5% is with the grandkid in the back. The Tundra was way too big.

Ridgeline was out when I found out it has no MT. Frontier had MT but was too small for the family

    Had to have:
-Mid size (full sized trucks are ridiculous, I drive one for work)
    - good resale
    - good reliability

Nisaan pissed me off years ago, wouldn't replace/update transmission under warranty. So there you have it, Toyota.

Were talking late Nov/ early Dec 2016... I first looked at the Ridgeline cause I was kinda of a onda guys. It reminded me of the 2014 CR-V I was replacing and I was VERY disappointed in it. Honda swung a missed at this, but somehow wins CR and car magazine comparisons... I also looked at used (2015 Tacos). Overall, the new 2017 Tacoma were by far the best option available at the time.

Considered a Ranger, Colorado. Couldn't get over the rake and weird looking (to me) bed on both of them. I liked the interior features and engine on the Ranger, but didn't want to risk buying the brand new run of trucks.

I briefly considered a ranger, because you can order a bare bones model and option a rear locker for 400 bones. I would have liked a ZR2, but they were outside of my price range. Thought about a gladiator but in order to get a locker and legitimate off-road chops, you’re spending over 50k. I was previously driving an XTerra, and would have been happy with a frontier Pro4X, but just couldn’t bring myself to trust Nissan’s reliability. I had wanted a Tacoma for 10 years or so, was shopping for one almost 3 years ago when I bought my XTerra, and learned how good Toyota’s lease terms are on new Tacomas. I figured that for roughly the same cost of buying a used Tacoma with 100k miles, I could either do that, keep shelling money out to keep my XTerra on the road, or lease a brand new 2019 TRDOR. It was pretty much a no-brainer and I couldn’t be happier.

    seriously considered:
-Outback (lots of snow/ice here) (next car)
-4Runner (have a ‘99 now) (will get another)
    -Tundra (size/mpg vs 8ft bed)

half way kind of thought about it:
-Pilot (tons of space for our long road trips)
-Crosstrek (basically a manual hatchback that doesn’t suck in snow)
-Fit/HRV (had a Fit, the space is awesome)
    -Highlander (reliable hybrid of Pilot/Outback)

When I purchased mine, the Tacoma was the only manual transmission, double cab available. Also I wanted dependability that I had found in my Corolla. There was only ever one choice. I looked at other things but only superficially.

Absolutely no regrets with my choice.

Had to jump on the last of the 2018 to get Inferno before it was gone, so that's how I decided on the Tacoma. I know I made the right choice.
