Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

As posted before I will no longer respond to requests about individual orders, shipping status, etc in this thread.

Registrations are handled by a 3rd party, I just got a batch of them last night. They will be sent when I am at my pc.

I understand everyone is excited to get their orders, tuning, etc. And the delay with the handhelds, outside of our control, has been a real shit show that we are trying to clean up. But that doesn't change that part of this process is always been reliant on a 3rd party.

Also, when we have holiday sales, that seems to be when everyone wants to order, and as a result we get hit with many orders at once. So during times like that shipping and preparation, etc will be slower. There's no way around it, our cable manufacturer cannot even keep up with the amount. We are waiting on another batch from them which won't arrive until January, its not lack of getting them out the door fast enough, boxing, responding to emails, etc. The PCB manufacturer..company that makes the boards for the connector can't even make them fast enough right now.

 

Dont forget matt, we live in an age where everyone is entitled to instant gratification. It says so in their twitter bios, so sayeth the courts of public opinion.

In all seriousness though, it's a smaller operation, not Amazon.com. Manage expectations. Have a race to win before Christmas? No? Give the guy a break, his Christmas vacation is probably filled with fulfilling orders and troubleshooting/answering questions.

 

People want their orders. Our product is pricey. Its understandable. The people with handhelds who need switched or waiting, their situation is understandable.

But for recent orders, expect some wait time. You ordered with 250+ other people.

 

I wouldn’t call waiting since August 30th instant. I also wouldn’t call over 3 weeks of waiting for a registration key (something that most have gotten in less than 24 hours) instant. But hey call me whiny if you like.

 

don't' sweat it, guys like him need to chime in every time someone asks about an order.

Mat does fine on answering for himself, he nor the thread needs another designated cheerleader.

 

Hardly cheerleading, dont get the wrong impression. If he does something stupid I will be just as quick to tell em to get stuffed. But theres a line, wait in it quietly like the other 250 people that ARENT complaining. I have issues with my truck too I've been waiting for, but I dont make it a point to put someone on the spot on a public forum with how long they havent addressed the issue. That shits for PM, grow up. We get it, your frustrated. First world problems right? Wish the most pressing matter I had to be concerned with was that a tune for my 45k truck didnt pan out for a couple months. I'm the bad guy here? Maybe if more people were less polite, and called out entitlement more often this conversation would never exist as we would be further along in our evolution as a species. But hey, merry Christmas.

 

Those 250 people likely ordered at Thanksgiving. If the turn around time is 3-4 months, at least state it on the website. Then you can tell people to eat crow if they are complaining after a week of waiting. It's just communication.

 

From Thanksgiving to right now isn't even close to 3-4 months.
And those are just orders from December.

 

Then PM. There's a right and wrong way. No one else is required to know your order status but you, and who you ordered it from. Maybe I'm just more old school, my parents taught me patience. The military taught me to solve disputes with the most direct path, least effect on others and at the lowest authority level. You+Ovtune personnel=solution to issue.

 

So I reinstalled the drivers and it still did not work. I opened the guardant software and tried to put my key in to see if that worked: it said it was the wrong key.

What should I try next?

 

Understood, i was talking about the guy complaining about ordering in August. For the thanksgiving people, you stated it would be 6-8 weeks (i believe), so you are still well within that timeline. On your order page (and when the auto-reply is sent from the order desk) - add a note stating typical lead time is 8 weeks (or whatever it is at that time). When i ordered, your shipping policy says 5-7 days, and 2-4 days for registration. I know you said publicly that it would be longer for shipping so that's fine. Just suggesting to up your shipping time in your Order Confirmation email. One thing i have learned in business, is that clients love when you over-deliver (providing a product before the agreed/suggested timeline) but get up in arms when it's past it.

BTW loving the tune. Man it's really got a pair of balls when the temperature drops, and that's just on 87. I noticed some minor stumbles when the engine is very cold but seem to go away pretty quickly.

If you could post some pictures it might help also since reinstalling the guardant drivers didn't fix it contact OVTune.

I used an updated version of pcm flash and it seems to be working now. The only problem I have now is that it doesn't recognize the tune file I'm downloading as a tune file.
I can read my ecu and everything, It just doesn't like the file I'm downloading.

 

Make sure to download dongle version. Not p5f

Got the tune onto the ecu. Doing my 15 minute idle now.

Looking forward to the 4.88 specific tune.

 

Only needs to be a 5 or 10 minute idle, but that works too.

 

I do 45 min every time. I used to do 5 min idles but my commute MPG ended up being low, in the teens. Ever since I’ve done 45 min idles, I’m averaging 34-35 MPG.
