Hey guys, New member here. I have been looking through the forums for an answer to my problem but no luck. I have an 09 2.7L 4x4 taco, sr5. Had to join a few pieces in a brake line for the front drivers side brake caliper due to rust. Since i added the piece i cannot build brake pressure. There is no leaks on the joins in the line. I have tried pumping and bleeding but still not enough pressure. I have also noticed that my front drivers side wheel had locked up even with the line disconnected. Fyi there is a new calipers installed so it isnt the caliper. Would anyone be able to guide me in the right direction? Any help would be appreciated! Extremely frustrated lol

If the caliper is locked with the line disconnected, seems the caliper has a problem. New (refurb?) or not.

When the line is disconnected, does brake fluid freely flow via gravity (no pumping)

During your work did the master happen to drain most of the fluid?

New caliper within the last 3 months.
And it drained a nice bit but didn’t fully empty it i dont think. Flowing freely by gravity. Could it possibly be something to do with the ABS? btw i tried bleeding with the ignition off if that makes a difference? Also notice a gurgle from the master cylinder when pumping..

Your description makes me think you may have 2 problems.

A bad caliper. Locked, but disconnected, points to that. Regardless, that would seem to need to be solved first.

Then I'd guess the master needs to be bled, either off or on the vehicle. Bench bleeding is the term to look for if you need to.

It's also possible the master has failed.

There are two types of brake systems in our trucks that require different ways of bleeding air. One of the systems require the key to be turned on (abs pump). My truck does not have this so you would need to determine what you are working with.
Are the caliper pins clean and rust free? Sounds like two separate problems..

Sorry to hear about your troubles....let see if we can help. Did you bleed all for corners with the ignition on (on running). Please make sure you refill the brake fluid reservoir after each corner is complete - this will ensure you don't introduce anymore air into the system. Once this is done we can eliminate one of the two problems outlined above (before we/you take out the master brake cylinder to bleed it).
Keep us all posted - love to hear the outcome...
    Stay save - work smart!
