When i start my truck in the morning, the 4x4 indicator flashes (as if it failed to shift) until i get moving. Even though it’s been in 2wd for a couple weeks. May be temperature based as it doesn’t do it throughout the day.

SOLVED: Front differential actuator was bad. Eventually went out completely and defaulted to 2wd - great in a white-out blizzard! Displayed 2WD-4WD Mode Change Failure on the dashboard

probably caused by this incident months prior

EDIT::: 10,000 miles or so later, after the shop replaced the faulty front differential actuator, i’ve started to get that strange green 4x4 indicator light incessantly flashing on start-up, when no 4x4 request was made. Again. Wheee

Edit 8/19/20 - per Toyota’s tech assistance service, they’ve decided to replace the front differential actuator again. Allegedly they’ve been having issues with water intrusion in rainy climates and they’ve redesigned the part to correct this. But the part number is the same one they put in back in December, so i’m not sure about that

    Flashes green or amber?
Flashes at normal speed or double speed?
Get a lot of condensation on your truck in the morning?

Hmm, happened again this morning. Dry day, 64 degrees. Cycling into and out of 4x4 seems to fix it, still, very odd

This taco is a trouble child
