That white stuff is a 4 letter word that begins with the letter S*** I have a love/hate relationship with it. Love it because there's no yard work to do when it's around / hate it because . . . cold

 

Consolidated all of my network/audo/server to one location. The cabinet was formerly an unused void above our concrete storm room. Now the three rooms these things were in previously are no longer tied down to where the wall jack is.

 

So something hot was placed on our kitchen table, and of course I got blamed for it, but is there any way to fix it? I have no idea what type of finish is on top, but the table is probably from the ‘70’s or ‘80’s and is solid wood underneath. I think the top may be some type of veneer.

 

I might be off, but from the 70s, I’d guess shellac or lacquer. You could try rubbing some lacquer thinner (very little) on a nondescript spot. If it gets tacky, then it’s lacquer. If it is, let that spot try for 24hrs, buff any texture down. Then a 50/50 mix of lacquer and thinner should help hide that spot.

If there are any pros on here, feel free to correct me with something better. I’ve done a few small lacquer repairs and projects, but only one major project using it as a high gloss thick layer.

Yesterday, I mowed the front yard to mulch up all the leaves, cleaned the pool and closed the cover, did some more shop organizing, and got quotes from a few companies to remove about a dozen trees.

 

Out with the old, in with the new. My wife put a bow on it and we told each other “Merry Christmas”.

Since we’ve had a lot of issues recently, I’m seriously considering getting a home warranty program, and we had AHS in a previous home. Looks to be about $40-$45 a month depending on the plan.

Anyone had good/bad experiences with this particular company?

 

As a plumber I hated to work for them. Around here most low end companies work for them since they don’t pay much. We’ve only bought when buying or selling a house.

 

When redoing our kitchen I looked at everything and always came back to granite because it was cheaper. I was leaning towards soapstone but in the end I went with marble because it was available and nicely discounted. Next one I want to try soapstone though.

 

I went with America's Preferred Home Warranty when I bought my house. I haven't filed a claim, so I can't say how their process is.

 

I’ve worked for about 10 of them and AHS was one of the better ones, but still pretty shady at times.

Pre-existing conditions and other fine print can fuck you out of a justified repair need, so I’d really suggest throwing that money in the bank and use it as needed instead. Last thing you want to hear is it isn’t covered because the problem existed before the plan was established. I’ve had the unfortunate task of delivering that news many times.

I was contracted for repair work, btw. I didn’t have a job working at the insurance companies.

Started the plumbing this morning with 2 weeks off should get a lot done

 

One can never have enough ports. I have a six port switch and wish I had jumped up and gone to a 24 port POE.

 

Yeah and I am looking outside at snow that has been on the ground since before Thanksgiving. Just jealous

Our bathroom is only 5’ x 8’ and our house was built in the 1950’s. I don’t want to move the plumbing, we trying to sell the place
