So I have a 2007 gen 4runner with the V8, haven't gotten much help on t4r.org since those guys seem to be a little less DIY than Taco guys over here. Been trying to get rid of the atrocious bump steer I've had for a while now so I've replaced parts as I've found time/money. Here is the setup and what I've replaced so far:

    Fox 2.5 coilovers
    285/70 BFG KO2 E range
    Method double standards
    1.5" wheel spacers
    Total Chaos upper control arms
    New UCA uniballs
New OEM CV boots with OEM grease and OEM clamps
New Whiteline Lower control arm bushings
New lower control arm ball joint (driver side)
Low mile OEM steering rack (55k miles, existing one had 190k)
    Polyurethane steering rack bushings
New "Pro Forged" inner and outer tie rod ends
    Aligned to proper numbers

On the steering shaft near the steering column, I completely removed the rag joint as I found rag joints belong on vehicles in the 1980s not vehicles built in 2007. This helped tighten the steering up immensely, got the idea from this forum.

All of this has definitely helped in controlling bump steer when I stab the gas but I'm still getting feedback in the steering wheel when I go over bumps and a distinct rattle on the driver side and its bugging the shit out of me. My 1 ton Tacoma on 39" tires has less bump steer and I built it myself. Climbing underneath while someone moves the 4runner steering wheel back and forth, I can see the steering rack moving but nothing else seems out of the ordinary.

Has anyone successfully got these trucks to drive good and QUIET down the road?

With those 285 tires I imagine where you got it aligned the tech would have pushed your wheels forward (positive caster) this prevents rubbing on your cab mount.. positive caster can cause alot of steering feedback when hitting bumps- Look into a cab mount chop, and then you'll be able to clear your 33's without needing all that caster! Hope this helps
