I have a chance to buy an 82 sr5 shirt bed with a 3” lift. It hasn’t been on the road in 25 years. It has been in covered storage so the paint is faded and not much rust. Truck needs timing chain so who knows the mechanical condition. What do you think it’s worth? It’s 2 hours away so don’t really know what to offer him. Sorry no pics right know.

Does the motor turn over, (are the pistons frozen)? Did they drain the gas and oil before storage? Are brakes locked up? What does the frame look like? What are your plans, part it out, restoration?

He says it turns over. I have not seen it turn over. I’ve only seen pics of the truck. I don’t think gas/oil was drained. I’d plan on restoring it

@Taco villa, in my opinion these are great trucks to build up and wheel. If the truck is an SR5 it most likely has a 5 speed transmission. Unfortunately, these trannys (1981 and early 1982) had a bearing design flaw that was causing trannys to self destroy. Other than the transmission, the beds were very prone to rust. If I remember correctly the timing chain guides are plastic, but someone offers an aftermarket set that is metal.

Enjoy the truck if you decide to buy.
