34k for a bio hazard is a little hard for me to swallow. I’m not a dick though so I’ll see what Toyota has to say

    Lost somewhere in the PNW
    Vehicle:
Current vehicles: 2019 Rav4 Lunar Rock. 2018 TRD OR DCSB KD Max tuned. 2010 Tundra Limited Crew Max . 1991 4Runner Crawler. Ivan Stewart Edition
KD Max Tune, King 2.5 coil overs T.C. UCA's, Deaver leafs, 17x9 Black Rhyno Warlords, 33" Toyo M/T's, Metal Tech rear bumper, Westin HDX drop steps with Bullet Liner coating, K&N CAI, Baja Designs fog pods, Rigid Midnight addition 3" pod ditch lights. Cali Raised brackets and 32" behind the grill mounted light bar, Southern Style Offroad Lopro Stage II front bumper, Warn winch, FACTOR 55 Ultra Hook, FACTOR 55 Hawes Fairleed, full debadge, Cosmetic goodies such as 15% carbon tint, matte black in channel rain guards, interior LED's, Teton Workshop shift knob, Inferno vinyl detailing on the interior, Cali Raised multi rocker switch cubby insert with Mc Tuning LED switches and a few other mods I've probably left out.
Unfortunately OP those mold spores are EVERYWHERE by now based on what I see. In the foam of the seats, in the fibers of the headliner and between the fabric and the roof. The spores are not just IN the carpet but between the carpet and the floor and in the padding. You may even find mold behind the dashboard growing where you will never be able to reach. You must eliminate all the mold spores or your trouble will just return.

As a professional detailer I have seen this many times and no matter how clean and disinfected you think it is there are millions of spores that will be impossible to eliminate. At this point I recommend filing an insurance claim and let them deal with financial recovery from Toyota. Just my 2c

    Good luck OP :)

Have you had the kids checked by their pediatrician yet? Get that done STAT, if you haven't already!!!

Definitely the worst I've seen on these forums. It is terrible that your kids were exposed to this. That would piss me off if it were my kids. See what the Toyota dealer says. It sucks you may have to get your insurance involved too. I would ditch the truck too honestly. Who knows how far or how deep the mold went. Plus knowing dealers, they'd probably do a half-ass job replacing things.

Not sure if mentioned already, but if you have the option to get it fixed everything has to be removed. Sometimes there may be rust under the carpet. You don’t want to go through the floor in 10 years if they weren’t thorough with their repairs

Crap. Toyota know about this and never notified you to have it checked? Now your kids are sick!!! The only thing I can say is contact an attorney. The truck is replaceable with insurance but the health of your kids is a different story. Good luck op.

These guys are right. You need to ditch that truck. Don’t get in it again. In the end our health is the most important thing.

I don’t want to sound like an alarmist but if your kids have been in that truck at all with those mold spores please take them to their doctors to get their lungs looked at. Especially if they are little enough to still be in a car seat.

I still have to deliver it to the dealer in the 26th? What do you guys recommend? I really don’t want to drive it. Maybe ask them to have it towed there ? I also don’t want to be a demanding pain in the ass. But again it’s a 34k bio hazard at this point

    Definitely a tow!
You should hang a warning sign on the windshield and lock it

I doubt they would total the truck. More likely replace the seats and rugs, at best.

I’d crack the windows on dry days to start the drying out process. All that moisture is going to keep spreading mold.
I wonder how the (cab) electrical system will handle all the exposure. Corrosion’s a bitch on connectors.

Drive with a respirator on if you can’t get it towed. Have a change of clothes ready with you at the dealership.

I think that's a total loss. No one should expect that people would ride in that mess.

    1) most mold is harmless to humans. I would take the kids to get checked, but personally I wouldn't be that worried about health hazards

    2) It is possible to clean, but may require a bit of work as others have said, including pulling headliners, carpet, etc.

    3) I don't think toyota is gonna do much for you. It sucks, but its not their fault the car sat for an extended period of time(weeks? months?). Insurance will probably help you out, but I seriously doubt they would total it. They'll try to clean it first, but even replacing the whole interior isn't a total.
