    Hey all,

Got a ECGS bearing installed last night to get rid of the vibrations from the level I have and the needle bearing. Now I have a slightly more annoying issue after the fact. I am getting a lot of clunking notices anytime I go over a bump be it a manhole cover or just a shitty road that is common where I live in Washington State. Took it to a shop this morning and they cant find anything wrong with the bolts being loose or too tight since it was all torqued to spec. Only thing they could tell me was that the CV has some play in it (1/2"). Could it be that the bearingnisnt fully seated and therefore the CV wont seat fully causing the noise?

Looks close enough to me. I doubt its your bushing. How good is the shop? Id consider lots of things before the bushing

My cv's both have some play- I was concerned too when I first got the truck. I have done the ecgs bushing and have not noticed what you are describing. Maybe have shop take it apart and check the depth of the bushing?

My primary suspect would be the ball joints. Next would be the little nut at the top of the spring.

This was a DIY job but had all the tools, specs, patience etc. To make sure it was done properly. The shop I took it to to give it a check over was Les Schwab which is right across the street from my work since I'm stuck here until after any other hop that can do this kind of work will be long closed.

Would have putting the new bushing I jacked up my ball joint that quickly though? Was literally a 3 hour job to get it done.. unless it's just one of the nuts being too tight on a ball joint.

Did you add diff fluid in after replacing the bushing? You usually lose fluid when pulling the axle.

A very small amount. Got it plugged up fairly quick to prevent a large amount lost. I dont think it could be an issue into the sounds while going over bumps in the road unless it does for some reason I dont know about.

Letting it hang out wont ruin the ball joint, but if you busted the boot...different story.

i took my knuckle completely off when I did mine.

Im curious, did you do anything to the uca bolts? They have to be tightened in a very specific way or they can be problems.

Even if the missing fluid is not your issue. I would highly recommend topping it off to the correct level. Or like I did drain and refill with Mobil 1 75w-90.

Boots are in great shape and no issues with them. I havent messed with the UCAs at all (getting new ones down the road though).

I have 2.5" lift spacers but those have been on for almost a month now. New shocks will be a future project.

Which side is the clunk coming from? Probably not the ecgs bushing imo.

Driver side. Only reason I have the ECGS thing labelled is because it started right after installing it last night and was the side it was installed in.

What all did you pull? Left the suspension in? Pulled the nut for the CV, the tie rod end, and lower ball joint? Or just unbolted the spindle?
