Anyone replace the stock unit with an Android (or even Apple) Auto compatible unit? I am not completely leaning towards one brand or another.

I thought I read somewhere that the stock sharkfin antenna needs to be replaced as well.

Does your phone have to be connected to the unit by USB in order for the Android compatibility to work?

    Thanks!

Android unit from Kenwood here. DMX905S. No antenna changes needed for me. That unit can do wireless AA but the wired connection is flawless. I had occasional issues with wireless. Crutchfield is a great resource for researching options.

Tons of options out there with different capabilities and different integrations. Wireless and wired. Use the search option here, crutchfield, or the audio section of the forum.
