I'm just curious what some of you guys have done for black/steel wheels?
I was considering running something like this.
I called the local tire shop and they were saying that with newer Toyotas the hubs are really sensitive to aftermarket steel wheels and will vibrate like crazy unless it's the Toyota factory steel wheels.
I used to work but a tire shop and never heard of anything like this.
    What do you guys think?
Also, for post a picture of your rig with black steel wheels if your running them

The issue he might be referring to is that Toyota rims are hub centric, meaning the wheel is centered on the hub. Aftermarket wheels are usually lug or nut centric meaning the lug nuts are coned and fit into a dish on the rim to centre it. Lots of people here have aftermarket rims and I have seen very few complaints. If they are cheap low quality then there maybe vibration issues. I would suggest talk to the seller, make sure there is a good return policy if there are issues and give it a try if you like them.

The lug-nuts should match the type of wheels. Conical lug-nuts usually go with lug centric wheels. If you interchange the two, you could damage a wheel. And have drivability issues.

All good. Just confirmed they are Mag style. The very end of them is beveled, I was mistaking that for “conical”

I run stock steelies off an older T100. The offset is slightly different... 20190825_135430.jpg

Do you run this all the way around or just the spare?

I used to run those 16 hole steelies on 1st Gen Taco - they were the provided spare for my 2003, so searching for a 6 lug 16" steel spare for most early Taco years will get you that wheel. Bought them off of Rock Auto as well as ebay. Gotta be careful though as there is an identical 15" one - got one of those too once. Parts pullers aren't that careful.

Still my favorite wheel and am thinking hard about using them on my new 2018 SR - it has the silver steel 5 lug star wheel now, which is fine but doesn't really pop.

Im not convinced the spare rim is as hefty as the older stock wheels. You can tell the spares as one or two of the holes will be oval.

I've seen that, but my spare had all round holes as did the wheels I bought so I can't compare. The wheels were very heavy steel, I can't imagine one of them ever failing especially compared to some of the goofy alloy garbage I see here.
