Hello I have a 2019 tacoma OR and probably stupid question but do I need to change out the suspension on the OR for somthing better to support the extra weight from new bumpers?
I was already thinking about doing a 3" lift with kings but decided I would just go with big skinny tires and then use the money I have for the lift on bumpers. But if the OR wont be able to handle the new bumpers than what would be the point in not investing in the lift and just going with bigger tires now and just holding off on the bumpers.

The bumpers I would be getting are addictive desert design.

Also I'm basically brand new to the truck world/offroad world. I know cars and motorcycles but not this stuff. So please be patient with my dumbness, I know I've got a lot to learn.

Welcome OP. You got to read a lot. Then read some more. Do this like 5x. There is no easy answer as there are too many lift choices.

Most people start with all 4 shocks bilstein 5100 and maybe an add a leaf in the back. That will get you started and is very cost effective.

Do you need a lift to support the weight of the heavy bumpers, etc? probably no.. Do you need heavier rate coils in the front and leaf packs, most-likely yes..
Like others have said, what is your goal what do you want to do with your truck, is the question? then go from there..
    And welcome to TW...

If you will actually be offroading. Then buy armor in this order: Rock sliders, then skid plates, then bumpers last. IMO.

I think @whatstcp said is dead on.

Brand new to this? Wait. Figure out what you want and what you like. If you just want a particular look, and dont off road thats a lot easier.

but, to build a rig to a need or a demand needs a lot of thought. For example, My rig is a hunting rig. Its not a build for crawling but there is a lot overlapping.

Well heres the problem. I work in the oil field (for now until I get laid off am I right?) I've figured that the bumpers that I'm interested weigh fr:65lb rr:45lb so I know its not gonna be an issue on suspension there. But I've been doing more research since I've posted and have looked into the 5100s and was think of getting those and getting set up on 285/75r16 if that cant fit I'll just start with 265/75r16. Because I'm offroad fairly often but nothing crazy. I have ZERO interest in "mudding" I'm more into the prerunner/baja look and performance I guess. Heres the link for the front bumper I was looking at.

    https://www.addictivedesertdesigns.com/toyota-tacoma-front-bumper-F687382730103/

This one caught my eye because I do enjoy the more aggressive look of the truck like this being able to see basically all of the tire and the suspension assembly. Not to mention at night when driving in the field light poles dont really exist lol. So the light bar would be very nice tbh. Been in other guys trucks that got bars in the bumpers and holy does it make a difference. I dont really have any intention of doing any crazy off roading if any at all. Mainly need the tires and "lift" for clearance issues (believe or not) have already been running into especially with the bumper. Hence why I'm going with a bumper that's not there. But to fit 285s I dont think just 5100s will get there so was thinking of getting stage 1 icon lift and should be able to gey those underneath.

Anything else I need to clarify on?

Should've added this as well but I dont want to get the truck lifted up to high because I do have a motorcycle and having a truck that's not a skyscraper is ideal know I'll be hauling that from time to time. Also I will be getting new wheels as well when it comes to getting the tires.

Id read up some more on fitting 285s. Maybe look into 255/85/16

Suspension is a touchy subject. You don't need a $2000+ suspension setup to run armor effectively, but they help. I will say from experience, get the lift you absolutely want so you're not regretting it later.

What I mean by that is, don't get a $600 Les Schwab special when you really want Icons or an OME setup. You'll be kicking yourself for not doing it in the first place.

Well I'm trying to get ko2s and they dont come in that size. I really dont want to go with m/ts because I know I'll just waste my money. Tbh tho I'm pretty sure I'm just gonna go with the 5100s and just get 265s because getting 285s to fit would mean I would have e to get the stage 1 icons or somthing along that line of suspension upgrade and I feel like doing somthing like that will just be overkill for what I'm going to be using it for imo.

Again, @whatstcp is dead on. M/T is also not a factor over A/T in my book. Look at the tire weights and decide. A/T will do better on the road, but not many a/t can hang with an average m/t off the road

also, you said the magic “ko2”. Prepare to be told by many people why there are better tires available. Youll also hear how good they are in some comments.

If you're running oil fields in your truck you want something durable and reliable. Nothing wrong with running stock like you have been and see what happens ( screw it you paid for it run those stock parts into the ground right?)

Yeah I know ko2 are "touchy" tire I guess. But when it comes to anything that's at the top of what ever category there will always be those people who have had bad experiences or great experiences with said item. I've had ko2s before and dont have a complaint about them tbh. I know some people have different opinions and like other tires. Tbh I almost didnt put ko2 in there knowing how reactions were going to be....

Or change them out for better parts and sell the stock parts off while there still fresh.

dont worry. The forum is mostly helpful, Ive run the BFG three times. Eventually, I decided there are superior tires for less. Id imagine 20% of the tacomas on this forum run the bfg. Its a very popular tire for a reason.

Tires ? Sure. Suspension ? Probably not. Bumpers ? Color match and if you cut it ? Eh I've seen people get decent $ for stock tires. Oil fields in ND or somewhere not so frigid?

Got a buddy that works for costco and took a course around those tires and the km3s. Told me there are betterish tires but bang for your buck ko2s win. Know this guy for awhile and he is a lot more into the truck world than I am so trust him a lot. Also costco really only sell ko2s and they knock off $ cause well its Costco.
