    Amen.
Hunted this evening and got soaked. To add insult to injury...I'm out of buck tags and saw the biggest bodied widest raked 8 I've seen all year. Oh well, came home and made a pot of venison chili.

I like it too. I think I would rather have a shoulder mount but I love the idea. Very unique. A full curl ram would look good I bet.

I bet a ram would look awesome! I’ve decided it cost too much for a shoulder mount now and it’ll have to be bigger than the 165 1/8” 13 pt on the wall. When I started getting them done they were $175. The last 3 my wife and I have had done I’ve traded out welding for but had to trade for a $400 mount each time. We’ll get our kids first ones mounted but it’ll be euros for me for a while. We’ve got 8 shoulder mounts between the two of us

I think my first one was around $175 also. Around here the 'premiere' folks charge right at $600:eek:. Mine is being done for $350, we'll see how it turns out. I'm only having it mounted for the huge neck and head (I hope it comes back with a huge neck and head)

I’m disappointed with my 13 pt mount, he weighed 195 lbs but is on a 130 lb mount. Early season bow kill too so he doesn’t have a lot of thick hair it looks so small. Our son used to ask if it was a doe cause it’s hanging next to an 8 pt that looks like it weighed 195 lbs but only weighed 165 lbs. I thought about getting it remounted but can’t afford it plus it makes the rack look bigger, lol.

I hear ya. The folks that use to do mine gave it up a few years ago. This guy is new to me. He only had a couple in his shop, but they looked pretty good.

The man who mounted this one has done 4 for me, this is the last one. I would have put him up against anyone he’s that good. Until I got this one back, he has a little of a lazy eye thing going on. He’s the second biggest one I’ve ever killed. 18” wide 9 pt.

Bed led, under hood led, secondary auxiliary panel,
    Ingredients
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar
    • 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
    • 1 tablespoon onion powder
    • 1 tablespoon garlic salt
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 3 tablespoons liquid smoke flavoring
    • 1 teaspoon paprika
    • 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
    • 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
    • 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
    • 1/3 cup soy sauce
    • 1 pound venison, cut into 1/4 thick strips
    Directions
    1. Whisk together the sugar, black pepper, onion powder, garlic salt, lemon juice, liquid smoke, paprika, hot pepper sauce, Worcestershire sauce, teriyaki sauce, and soy sauce in a large glass or ceramic bowl. Add the venison strips and toss to evenly coat. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for 24 hours. Mix the venison a few times as it marinates to ensure even absorption of the marinade.
    2. Remove the venison strips from the marinade and squeeze off excess. Discard the remaining marinade. Arrange the venison on the racks of a food dehydrator so that it does not overlap.
    3. Dry the venison on High until dry but still pliable, about 4 hours. The jerky should bend without breaking. Store the jerky in an airtight container or in a resealable plastic bag

    4. I made 14 lb last year family ate it in a week

That’s what sucks about jerky, all the time prepping and drying, and it’s gone in a week!

Howdy Friends. well hunted today and was the only person on 3500 acres. I dish alot of BS but tonite I flat out missed. saw a spike this morning and went to the saddle my son saw a good one the other day.just before dark i heard deer running on the ridge. couldnt see any. then just at dark saw a flick of white. a buck dropped on a logging road headed toward me. getting dark fast. long story fast. around 70 yds at a blowdown. looked up and at least 18 or 19 in inside spread. quartering to me, my favorite shot. getting pitch dark fast. raised to clear blowdow and freakin missed. ran up the ridge, could see white horns in the scope and frekin blew 2or 3 times and troted around the ridge. looked for an hour with flash lite no blood. son is hunting in the morning and will double check. knows exactually where i was. no shirttail cut on me i had underarmor on too expensive to cut. I dont mind the miss but I hate to wound a deer. got too much respect for them. pretty sure it was a clean miss, vent over.if it was rifle could have shot him again but muzzleloader had to reload. first miss ive had in years cause i dont take iffy shots but this was a chip shot.so goes hunting. still a good day in the woods!
