Alright, so now they are willing to put an OEM bumper on there... was hoping insurance would go for my proposal to just give me the money for the bumper and i can get a nice cbi or relentless bumper, but it looks like they got to pay for the whole repair or just cut a check... no partial.

Nice! Just stay on them, and don't forget to file diminished value if your state allows it.

    .

It is, its amazing how much you have to fight just to get your truck back to what it was when the accident wasn't even your fault. Insurance is such a crock.

Well against my better judgement, i took the insurance $$$ and ran.... still working on the diminished value claim which looks like it will be a long drawn out process...

Next chapter in this saga: finding a frame guy to do the frame straightening/ boxing/reinforcement and start turning this daily commuter into a “build”... Will start shopping around for frame welders tomorrow. If this all goes well, i’m going to nickname my truck “Steve Austin”.

You will be fine, like others have said the back few inches of the rails are pretty much there to hang the hitch and bumper. My bed went back to shape as soon as it was unbolted from the bent area in the back. Guy who did my frame was a guy who had been in the industry for 37yrs, make sure they cold work your frame. When the guy did mine he said you couldn't add heat to them or it weakens it. He had just finished a white Tacoma before he did mine, said he makes good money off these yota frames as they bend so easily when hit.

Any good body shop with a frame machine can straighten that frame.
Once you do that, the tailgate will close normally.
