At this point I Do not want the truck any longer, I called “serve pro” who is who Toyota uses for mold remediation, and the person I spoke to said it’s unlikely all the mold would be removed and they would not be willing to give me in writing that it was.... it would have to be tested by yet another third party and that’s a cost I doubt Toyota would want to pay... I still haven’t heard from the dealer on their recommendations and doubt I will till after the holiday. Just a bummer all around, but they have been great so far. But I have a feeling I’m only in the beginning stages of the battle to come.....

It’s still in the truck as it’s contaminated as well and I would never put my child back into that seat. I will likely buy another and save the receipt.

This is the solution I’m hoping for, or full retail value for trade in towards a new truck and I pay the difference.

Good luck. Hope the whole family is healthy when it is all over. My Tacoma is the extra vehicle in our household. It tows the boat, carts the bikes to the trailhead and is my usual vehicle for going hiking/taking the dog out. I try to drive it at least once a week, but can go weeks without driving it. 4700 miles on a 2017 that I have owned for 22 months. This could easily have happened to me. I just hope that I don't have any weird leaks that I have not discovered.

How do you like the 4runner? Keep in mind the front shocks are too soft.

Bleach. Or similar chemicals to clean it out. You'd need to tear out most of your interior, however. No kids in the car, man.

All of the notices that I am hearing about are all coming from this forum. Mails that I received from toyota are their sales and bs.

same here man, the forum and google are the only places I find them. I found out about the leaky 3rd brake light issue the hard way! On mine they found the screws had been mis-threaded in production. The bitch for me was I had just purchased RTV sealant when I read about it here, I was waiting till after the rain storm to apply it, went out to do it... too late! :D

I applied RTV around my 3rd lamp to avoid leaks.

It's a shame, before you sign the sale contract Toyota and Dealer treats you nicely andbwill go above and beyond but once you drive it out of their lot it's a whole new ballgame.

I went through this very same problem with my 05 F150. Had a leaking rear sliding window and just a little moisture got in, but it happened just before storing it in my garage for the summer while traveling (4 months). When I got back, it was mold EVERYWHERE. And RUST too. I cleaned it and repainted the rusty areas. I then sold it and bought my Tacoma.

To clear things up both distilled white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide will do an effective job of killing mold spores in porous materials. Bleach can only kill mold on non-porous surfaces, as it does not penetrate porous surfaces; so mold roots are left to grow again.

I hope Toyota does right and takes care of you and your family, by buying back the truck.

I think it's fixable, but I wouldn't want it back either if I had kids who would be riding in it regularly! I've let my truck get positively trashed inside before, but I've never had mold! Good luck, OP!

Electrical corrosion is possible. Under the dash.

You won’t. That isn’t how TSBs work. TSBs are not things that customers are notified about, recalls are.

None of these have been a recall issue.

Well perhaps Mercedes care for their customer more than Toyota as I have received TSB email updates from my dealer regarding my vehicle.

That's basically a voluntary recall then, not a tsb. By definition a tsb is for the service techs, not the customer.
