    Hello All!

I am finally putting on some 285/70/17 KO2's (had 2 sets on my previous truck so I am partial to them) on my stock 2015 TRD Sport (pictured). It currently has 265/65/17's. I am older now (not much off-roading anymore) and so I am only doing this for looks. Even though I see so many switching out the wheels, I am keeping the original 17-inch wheels because I like them.

I have read as much as I could on the forums and taken my truck to 3 shops. I am mostly hearing that if I just add a 2.5-inch spacer to the front (nothing to back) and remove the mud flaps it would be OK. One guy said he might need to trim a little, which I really didn't want to happen if I could avoid it. What have you guys experienced?

My most important question is one shop quoted me with a $225 leveling kit, while the other basically said you don't need to spend a lot because they are only 2.5-inch spacers and said his quote was $90. Are there really any differences? I am certainly not knowledgeable about any of this, so thought I would reach out to this community. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I am hoping to get this done very soon.

2.5 up front alone will give you BRO LEAN ( Meaning the front will be higher than the back.) You will need to take off the mud flaps, do a Cab Mount Chop and most likely have to do some fender trimming. So I would go 255 Skinny 33 and have zero trimming and retain the Mud Flaps. Spacers eh some like them some don't, you make the choice, but it sounds like you need to do a lot more research. As when I thought about 285's and started to research all you saw was trim trim trim or cut cut cut.

I have 255/85/16 which is a 33.1 inch tire but skinnier than the 285

Do you go offroad or do you mainly stay on pavement?

@Unchained ty for input...yeah I definitely don't want a huge bro lean. I thought the 2.5 inch would level it though. I look forward to anyone else's input as well.

@Traeger Mainly all pavement. Occasionally some offroad fishing trails, but nothing serious.

TY Unchained! So I take it you wouldn't notice a 2 inch front lift much...but would be limited on tire size. Mmmm Hopefully more will chime in with advice...as I really wanted the 285's. Your truck looks great BTW...and I just noticed the Floyd Rose tremelo on that VH looking strat pic. Fellow guitarist here as well!!

Even with 3 inches of lift many if not all have to trim, remove the mud flaps, and do the CMC. Thanks on the guitar I am in the middle of building it right now. More to go

I only use OEM Wheels so the first one's are Toyota 4 Runner Trail Wheels in 17x7.5 and the second one is the TRD Bronze Faux Beadlock in 16x7

Running 3/2 lift 285/70/17 17x8.5 -10 wheel no cmc, no trimming, 4* caster. Removed mudflaps and that silly front flap thing. I don’t believe the 285 on a factory wheel will fit0AE5D9CF-67CB-42E1-BD25-D9BCDBFD2F1E.jpg it will probably rub the uca.

Thanks for the info @gotoman1969 ! What is cmc & uca? Forgive me for my lack of knowledge among you more mechanically inclined, but you have to remember I don't know "jack squat" about this process . One thing that is for sure, however, is you guys got me thinking about a lot more things than I was......especially about keeping the stock wheels (just don't know if I can afford tires and wheels at this point, but it would make most sense to do both at same time). Anyways, I am so glad for this community and welcome as much input as possible.

When you want to know how much lift you need or want, just measure from centre of hub to fender, front and back. Stock you will be around 20 inches on the front, rear is 22 inches.
