My work bonus isn't for Christmas, but based on company financials and yearly target goals(OTD, safety, etc). Each target has a weighted percentage, if 100% of targets are met, then 5% bonus of your yearly salary(minus taxes of course). But, with it being corporate, the bonus takes quite some time to go through the paper pushers in the cubes up front.

The dealership I am at gives $100 plus extra $5 for every year worked.
Family run Toyota dealership with most employees around 20 plus years. Unheard of but true.
We also get profit sharing every March or April (not sure of month) that is usually around $1000 +\- :D

    One word: RISK.
I work for a construction company. I do estimating and project management, so I know what the profit margins are, but I also know how quickly things can go wrong. Sometimes it work out great, and sometimes you have to eat the job and hope the next one go better. Overall we are doing good and our bonus reflects that.

A while back we had one of our CAT 349 backhoes slide down a lake bank that gave way. We had to bring in 2 other 349's and 2 other smaller backhoes, and a dozer to get it out. It took all day, which equates to about $70,000 loss for the day.
