Well, it's not like aluminum alloy wheels are immune from corrosion. Clear coats and powder coats can get kind of nasty when white rust takes hold underneath.

Yep. Still looking for a lighter (weight) and non steel. Hence, aluminum.

New (to me) Tacoma owner. None at this time. Stock, but changes are planed in the future.
OP... One thing to think about, steel or alloy wheels is to find a reputable company to clean them all over and get clear powder coat.
It's used in aerospace and military applications. If you want to change the color, powder coat or even ceramic coating. It comes in clear as well.

I use the OEM Chou Seiki 15" x 7" aluminum alloy wheels that were optional for the 1st generation Tacomas. They don't look like the OEM steel wheels, but are lighter in weight and I had them powdercoated in black instead of its original finish.

Clean ride man! Right now I really have my eye on the Pro Comp 7069. Simple design and decent price. Someone mentioned them in this thread and said a few on here have those wheels. Are the reviewed positively within the community?

Your frame will rust out long before steel wheels do.

Wheels are easy to keep clean, and more than likely have a FAR superior paint/coating on them than our frames do.

I went with stock OEM spare wheels- 16x7 they are a bit heavier but still lighter than the 16x8 tundra steelies I had. Of course I’m into pizza cutters so.
Funny once I started looking for them I got 1, and then found reconditioned ones online, cheaper than I could get them blasted and even paint them myself, so it was a no brainer and here it sets now:CDA2AE79-72B1-480D-8BA0-90BE045C6470.jpg

I like my American racing alloys, I believe they are a 15×9, I had to get -19 offset to clear the calipers but I like the stanced look.

    I found them at:
    https://www.wheelsandcaps.com/p-23720-steel-wheel-rim-16x7-69392.aspx

For me it took about a month- seems like they only have a couple in stock at a time, I ordered them 2 at a time.
Free shipping and they are reconditioned- so I guess that means sandblasted and painted. They looked like new, and were well boxed
I ordered the ones for an 02 Tundra since I need the clearance for the 231 calipers. I mounted some Toyo ATll 235/85R16, and I am really liking the ride.
It appears that it is true- patience is it’s own reward.
    Good luck partner.

Yeah I'm running stock OEM spare 16x7 steelies.
Took forever to find some, ended up getting em online.

I hate when people call the pro comps and such "steelies", they look nothing like a true spare "steelie".
