Hi I’m new to the forum and am really wanting to buy a 2020 TRD PRO but I have my first baby on the way in June. From what I’m reading it sounds like fitting a rear facing child seat/infant seat in the back is a bit of a struggle. Meaning you have to move the passenger seat nearly all the way forward, my wife is 5’7” so I’m not sure how well that would work out for me. Are there any particular models that would work better like a low profile seat or something designed for a shorter space? Any experiences you could share would be great.

That may be the way I’ll have to go but I could really use the pickup bed.

No worries man. It will work.

It fits, and there probably wont be any extra room but it will fit and your wife will be comfortable.

Your wife will have ample room in the front. Mine is 5'4" and she has the seat adjusted to touch the baby seat and can stretch her legs out.

If you have any inkling that it wont work grab your seat and pop over to the dealership and try it out... then you'll know!

Thanks man that’s great advice, I don’t have the child seat yet. My baby’s not due till June. I’m gonna try to research what models might fit the best.

    No worries.

I bet if you ask the salesman they'll be able to borrow or get one in for you! Nice choice on the truck... power seat for the win lol.

Depending on how "by the book" you want to be, and if you use a carseat base that snaps to the hooks instead of using the seatbelt, you can put it in the middle using the inside hooks of both sides seats. I was able to still get my graco base super tight like that and dont have to put my front seat all the way up.

Mount the seat in the middle. Works great for one kiddo. Once you have two rear facing car seats you can forget about having any leg room up front.

Will any seat work in the middle? Or does it have to be particularly narrow?

I've used the Chico for the infant seat and this other monstrosity we have that does rear to front facing as they get older. So you can fit a fairly large seat in the middle. I'm 6'2" and have my front seats all the way back with no problem getting the boy in and out. You just have to reach. Hope that helps.

Welcome to TW! All of the seats should have the same shape/dimensions in the newer Tacomas.

I have a Maxi Cosi Pria that fits fine in the rear passenger seat (front facing). I did notice that there is less legroom than my previous vehicle (16' WRX STi). Rear facing shouldn't be an issue at all. It would be for a smaller child that would require less room.

Had rear facing behind drivers seat for a few years, it’s doable- super nice when both kids went forward facing, even nicer now they are in boosters.
