What emergency gear do you keep stowed?

I just purchased my first Tacoma. I've graduated from a 2003 Civic, which just wouldn't die, to something that is a bit more fitting for my lifestyle. You might say this is a pretty big change. I'm pretty damn happy I finally obtained this, and have been doing a lot of lurking to figure out my priorities for what I might want to pick up for it, such as new floor mats, maybe some better tires, etc.

At this particular moment, I'm trying to figure out the minimal amount of emergency gear I should stow behind the seats in the back. I obviously have a limited amount of room, so I'm trying to figure out what would make the most sense and be most useful.

    So far, I'm thinking:
    • jumper cables
    • fix-a-flat
    • basic first aid kit
    • flares
    • poncho
I should note, I don't live or travel is super remote areas. I'll be in fishing and camping in central Pennsylvania, not Montana. So I'm thinking that should be taken into account.

What do you keep stored behind and under the seats?

Gonna be buying maxtrax soon. Although they wont fit under or behind the seats lol. I have the same truck in silver. Just graduated from a 2009 kia optima after 7 or so years. I also carry a med kit I bought at academy, and I carry guns. I wont specify howmany or what type, but yeah I'm always packing. I would recommend guns.

You have a link to the medkit? It's tough to find a decent one for camping and have built out my own. There's always a bunch of random stuff I don't want/need.

good suggestions thus far. I would include a couple bottles of water and some type of protein power bar. Every vehicle I've owned had a first aid kit in it, too. Don't want to need it and not have it. And yes, some will have too much stuff in them so you might just put together your own.

I keep a moving blanket/pad, tow strap, cargo net, bungee cords and ratchet strap set, first aid kit, and basic multi-piece tool kit behind the rear seats.

I used to keep lots of stuff with me, but now I have cell phone, CB, ham, and AAA.

I realized over the summer that if Im physically in trouble, the best thing I can do is use coms to try to get someone to help. If my truck is in trouble, but I am physically fine, then a phone call to AAA is all I need.

I keep a waterproof matches, snatch strap, some gloves, shackle adapter for my hitch, safety glasses, jumper cable, a different bottle jack than what came with my truck. I don't do a lot of remote stuff alone despite living in a potentially remote area because I don't have an emergency communication device and I'm not comfortable getting myself into situations where I may need it, if I don't have it. That's on a long list of dual purpose gear that I want (hiking/camping, offroading etc).

Fix-a-flat will damage your tire pressure sensors. A plug kit and an air compressor would be be a good option. Or just use the spare.
