It's kind of crazy how different people are. I use to beg my dad to take me hunting and fishing, which he did when he felt like dragging a kid along. I killed my first deer at 14, been hooked ever since. My kid was never interested at all, took him fishing a handful of times, didn't stay too long and I made sure he caught a few fish, and he still was never really interested.
The first time I took him bowhunting...he was probably 7ish...I popped up a ground blind on the edge of a cornfield, brought a video game and snacks, we saw probably 10 deer including a button buck that was within 5 yards, I could tell he was having a great time, yet he only went one more time and was done.

I went hunting with my dad every chance I got. Killed my first one at 15 and love it. Fishing is our sons thing, he wants to do that. If we lose our land to hunt I may start fishing, a lot. He loves it that much. I’d rather hunt but that’s me. We have a 14’ jon boat that hasn’t been wet in 7 years, I haven’t sold it waiting to see if he likes to fish, glad I held onto it.

I love to fish too. For whatever reason I've tapered off the last year or two. I need to pick up the pace. My wife loves to go.

First night of the coon traps resulted in a skint tree (from the chain connected to the trap which got undone and I thought I lost a trap but it was over by the other trap so the same coon may have found both traps) and hair and skin one both traps... Reset and trying again tonight.

A guy I know traps with leg traps, he had a coyote get in one and get the trap loose. A person we know found it close to 3 miles away with a foot in it about a week later.

My wife loves to hunt and fish. Our daughter could care less about fishing. She’s a catch one and done. Haven’t taken her hunting yet.

I watched a hunting show where a guy took his mom on her first hunt at like 75. She killed a deer.

I text my mom and ask her if she wanted to go with me. She said sure. I don’t think dad had ever ask her. We went, didn’t see anything but the next week she went and bought a .243 and her and dad went several times but didn’t see anything she wanted to shoot.

Dads back is so messed up he can hardly walk and hasn’t been hunting in a few years. Since having kids it’s put a damper on me doing things with anyone else.

You know in my case, neither of my kids wanted to hunt but really love fishing.

I on the other hand as a kid was taken fishing by my mom and my uncle and still am a fishing freak. As far as hunting, my uncle took me squirrel hunting a few times as a kid and I was hooked.

Since we moved around a lot I essentially took my interest in hunting and taught myself the rest. I am still learning which will probably always be the case, but between hunting shows and every experience I have had, it has made me a much better hunter. It would’ve been nice to have someone take me a lot, but honestly I think I just have in my blood and would have started hunting no matter what.

I have been hunting for 25 years on my own now and I continue to love it. I try to help others in any way that I can to either learn about hunting or to try and get into the sport. I have had some amazing experiences and learned some really hard lessons. But in the end I have become much better at hunting which makes it so much more satisfying.

I started hunting turkeys about 7 years ago and taught myself pretty much everything. I have taken 5 nice gobblers and even helped my wife double last year which was amazing.

I think you either have the drive or you don’t but taking someone and giving them a chance will help to either light that fire, or will show them that it’s not their thing. Either way, at least you give it a shot and have tried to include them!

I have two sons, my oldest went a few times, harvested a deer and hog. That was it, not his thing. My youngest LIVES for hunting. Always wants to be in the woods.

Got some butterflied backstraps (not the way I butcher them but I didn't know how to explain to the processors in few enough words to put on their note pad so... We just have more, smaller steaks now) soaking in some dales and sweet baby rays and some juice of some pepperoncini... Also it kinda looks slightly marbled but I know that has to just be connective tissue
