Advice on installation products

I am looking to be pointed in the right direction for power/ground wire as well as speaker wire.

As of right now, I will be using the stock HU. Not sure if it will be wired into a Audiocontrol LC6i, Audiocontrol EQX or RF 3sixty.2. Anyways, I would like some info on what wire I should be looking at. Gauge size, brand etc.

I will be running a set of Pioneer TS-D1720C powered by an older RF Punch 60.2.

I would like something flexible and easy to work with. What should I get to attach the power wire to the stock battery? And what size and type of fuse. I do not need the best of the best, but I don't want bottom feeders either.
Is there a kit I can buy? Or am I better off getting seperate parts.

For a 60.2 i'd recommend 8 gauge wire
match the fuse to that of the fuse on your amp
Buy a kit, it's cheaper. Kicker makes really good kits and they are priced pretty low

 

I did see some kicker kits and they were priced relatively low. Those and kits from Stinger I was looking at. Would it be wise to run 4ga from the battery to a d-block and then 8ga to the amp in case I go with s bigger amp?

 

I've ordered from these guys before. This was when I built up my last truck (6-7 years ago). Back then, they had good prices and a quality product.

I just went to Lowe's and bought some 4AWG wire. They will cut off however many feet you ask for from their giant wire spool carousel thing. I got 30' and it was enough but tight for running from the battery to behind my rear seat with both positive and ground. If you don't run the ground all the way back to where the battery is you'll need less. If I was to do it again I'd buy 35'.

Then of course you'll need to get connectors... but the fuse I got from Best Buy. It is a screw down in-line fuse holder and I stuck it right next to the battery. That should only cost you a few bucks.

 

That's a good idea. Never even thought of that. I would imagine the electrical wire is just as good as a wire I got from a car audio place, no?

Also, did you just buy a ring connector and crimp it on? What did you use on the amp side? Spade type?

 

I used ring lugs and a big ass Greenlee crimp tool for the battery side connections (I do electrical for work so I had the tool). The amplifier connections are screw down barrier strip type connections so no connectors were necessary.

 

Whatever you do I wouldn't buy a kit from Bestbuy. Theres are really expensive. I got a kicker kit from sonicelectronix that was the same exact one at Bestbuy for half the price.

 

For ground, don't waste your time running a separate wire all the way to the battery. I drilled a hole in a piece of the cab near where my rear seat seat belt spooled and bolted the ground wire to it. I just used my dremel with a wire wheel end to expose the metal around the hole I drilled. It's a couple feet from my distribution blocks anyways. 3 amps and a Bitone all ground from here and there's no problems at all.

Also, 4 gauge power from the battery, 4 gauge ground to blocks and 8 gauge to all the amps from there.

Good quality and cheap. That's the trick. You don't want to have to go rewire things in a couple years or smell smoke because the shielding is rotting off, but you don't need to waste $ either.
