Toyota is a huge corporation, have a lot of sub contractors, and venders, But I have never seen or heard of the Toyota Refinery, I am thinking the" Toyota oil "is Mobil 1

On a side not my dealer does NOT carry genuine Toyota differential oil as recommended in the servicing guidelines, but sells and uses Amsoil in their diff. repairs/servicing. If I wanted genuine Toyota diff fluid as recommended it would be special order item they said.
It is a huge dealership btw. So what does that say ?

Most dealers won’t carry it. They typically buy and use whatever bulk 75w-90 they can get for cheap. To be honest though gear oil is simply gear oil and the difference between genuine 75w85 and plain old 75w90 is marginal. $7 per quart Supertech synthetic gear oil every 30k has never left me with any issues.

    OP:
Any 0W-20 motor oil with an API SN rating or even the newer SN Plus, and ILSAC GF-5 standard will be fine.
For an oil filter, the Toyota brand filter is a great choice.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Never seen a pennzoil, Quaker state, redline, Royal purple, or amsoil refinery either. The difference are the additives that get added to each brand of oil on top of the standard oil.

Dealers sell whatever they make the most profit on.

Pennzoil and Quaker State are Owned by Shell. They have GTL plants, Oil refineries and Blending plants to build the raw stock, do their own blending and additive additions.
Redline, RP, Amsoil buy base stock from refineries and blend their own and add whatever additives they need to meet international standards.

Pennzoil Synthetics are one of the very few that use GTL (Gas to Liquid) liquids in place of refined synthetics - The place they are created is classified as a Plant not a refinery (Rotella Synthetics also) This base stock made from natuaral gas is what has made the Pennzoil Platinum line such great oil. One of the top on the market if not the top. I am not including small batch nitch racing oil producers in this.

Read the manual. If the oil meets or excedes the requirements then it's ok to use.

It amazes me how many overthink things that are so damn simple here.

As I do with many oil threads....I'll just leave this link here. For those who use "high end" oils and for those using SuperTech...neither of you are in the wrong. The only real difference is the price.

Blackstone labs has stated they can find no measurable difference in engine wear between brands....and even between conventional and synthetics. Their advice? Follow the manufacturer's recommend interval and viscosity. That's all that's required.

Forget what your dad and his dad before him did. Modern motor oils are light years ahead anything they used.

I wonder if people that are so neurotic about their selection of motor oil put the same effort into their daily life.
"The recipe calls for Heinz Ketchup, but I only have Hunts will I be poisoned?"
"I have Exxon in my tank, is it ok that I just once topped it off with Shell? I will never do it again"
"I wore cotton socks once in my dry fit shoes, do you think they are ok?
