My guilty pleasure is buying camera stuff I don't need.....

Non-entry (one of the first shots I took with my new mirrorless Nikon Z6)

Since I got my first DSRL in June of ‘18 I’ve dumped a bunch of money into the hobby. That said it’s been fun and educational to learn about photography. (This is the new 90D, I gave the T6i and kit to mom for Christmas)

Entry: True guilty pleasure for me. Every year my daughter and I buy and build some Legos during the holidays. This is just a small sample of the sets we bought this year. I recent years we've built the Saturn V rocket and the James Bond Aston Martin DB5.

My guilty pleasure is my falconry. I live where I live, and work the job I work because they allow me to do falconry the way I want to. This photo was taken on Christmas morning. I was out flying my falcons instead of spending time with my family. Well only for a few hours in the morning, but still.

    Thats it?

I mean I realize they are birds, but I figured they would eat more than that.

That's a little over half of a coturnix quail each. They can eat 8 or 10 ounces if they really gorge, but then they wouldn't need to eat, or hunt, for at least a couple of days.

I'm surprised there weren't more entries. Seemed like a good topic. Maybe everyone was too busy with Christmas.

Yes it was. And I suspect that your are correct.

I usually play but seldom post, I've gotten too critical of my own pictures. But have learned tons from this thread, still learning. And keep raising the bar on myself. In the beginning on here others would do a critical critique of others pictures. Glad that is no longer the case but I do it to myself now, that is part of how I learn.

Personally I have a bad smoking habit I take guilty pleasure in. One of my better pictures, although I don't even feel it is guilty pleasure anymore LOL, I just like good food.

    NOT ENTRIES:

So feel that I need to do at least as well to post here, that is my rule I made up for me. Christmas Eve dinner was King Crab on the grill

Flash wiped out too much detail. And too much smoke on the pellet pooper doing the filet minion sear.

Scalloped oyster casserole was uneventful and kind of blah looking. Tasted great though!

Even plated it didn't jump out at me. I should have had some crab meat on the plate also.

I can do better. Well maybe not food wise but certainly as far as my pictures are concerned. Last night did jerked chicken and peppers with onions. Couldn't find the remote for the camera and 20 sec. manual focus in the wind and ice just couldn't get a decent picture. So tried the cell phone camera.

    jerked chick.jpg

Too grainy. Not enough detail. Just kind of off so I didn't post it. But still picked up a few things for next time to try. Have a feeling I am not the only one that goes through this drill.
