    it's controlled by the vehicle lock settings. if you have it set to unlock all doors, then it will unlock on first click. if you have it set unlock passenger door on 2nd click, then tailgate will unlock on 2nd click.

    Thank you both- I've been waiting to decide if this would work with the factory (port?) lighting. I had the same "incompatible" error when buying the truck and knew there would be some way to get a power lock. Didn't expect it to be this easy.

    Just ordered the kit. Will install in my 2018 and report back once I get it. If I get it by Friday I'll get it done over Christmas week.

    Mostly got this installed today. I haven't run the harness from the PS kick panel to the rear sub harness but I did test it out of the truck and everything works. I did also mount the actuator and ran the sub harness through the tailgate with the provided grommet. So at least for a May 2018 build date this kit works fine. I would assume it'll work with all 16+ trucks though but certainly don't hold me to it.

    Thanks for all the info gents. I think an OEM setup with the fuse protection would be best. I am thinking of getting this kit for my DCLB found one online and hopefully next payday I can get one. I assume the kit comes with the instructions? Anyone have pics of how it mounts to the tailgate and the latch handle for reference?

    I finished up the install. No gotchas as far as I ran in to on my 5/2018. This along with my DiamondBack bed topper should keep my stuff nice and secure.

    Just printed out installation pdf and completed in about 2 hours (dealer was going to charge 2-4 hours of labor). I don’t have a lift, did not jack, did not require many tools. Skipped some of the wire tie locations, seemed a bit excessive especially inside cab. I have 2020 OR with bed lights and there were no issues. Instructions were easy to follow.
