1992 Blazer: ORU solid axle swap w/79 ford Dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear out of a van, nv4500 swap, custom leafs w/shackle flip rear, np241 shortening kit (jb conversions) bolted yoke, cv drive lines, rear disc conversion, K&N intake, Tbi spacer, Valley ind.rear tire rack, pro comp pre runner bar, BFG at 33x12.5, full size spare, bushwhacker cutout flares, etc.,etc.... Wife: 2011 tacoma stock condition.
Decided to join as I had to reset and calibrate the wife’s vsc computer. Read the post here and reset it without a hitch so thanks Crom for the excellent info. This is the second Tacoma my wife has owned and guess who gets to fix them. I sometimes wish I had my own mechanic so I don’t have to get my hands dirty but I’ve learned a lot. Ive also lifted my friends pre runner and added a shackle flip to make it more functional off road.
I love Toyota’s as well as fords and dodge trucks. I currently own a 1992 Chevy full size blazer and a 1994 k2500 pickup. The blazer has 1 tom axles and a low ratio nv4500 5 speed. It’s my trail rig and my everyday driver. It has a solid axle swap I did myself and I’m contemplating doing a SAS on my 2500 pickup now. Originally I got the pickup to use as a donor for the blazer but I couldn’t bring myself to pull it apart since it runs still. It also has a low ratio nv4500 in it. I just have to find a front ford dana44 or 60 now for the driver side drop axle. If anyone has an 8 lug 44 or 60 for sale with hp, open knuckles, full width, removable buckets (not cast) that isn’t an arm or leg let me know as I might be interested. 85-91 ford dana60’s will work too. Im planning on wandering the local wrecking yards since I know I can find an axle that doesnt cost thousands of dollars but I haven’t had the time just yet. I’m in livermore ca.
I’m also currently pondering a Logan’s metal front winch bumper for the blazer since they look to be one of the few that will work with a SAS. They also sell unfinished/painted ones so they cost less and I can make modifications easily before installation.
Fun stuff! Cheers to my fellow Toyota fans!!!
I hope this post comes out ok as I’m somewhat computationally challenged.
