    Stock. SR5 Package #2.

They've been trying for many years now to approve a casino in a neighboring county.
I dunno if it went through yet or not, it has hung fire for so long. :notsure:

    Same goddamn bullshit.
Oh yeah, your taxes will be lower... Sure they will.
If I've learned one thing in all my years, it's that taxes get spent on new "essential" services.
    Always, always, always.
Any rollback (a rare occurrence indeed) is always short lived.

The one thing that held up the casino push for so long is the opposition of small clubs.
Bingo and so-called small games of chance are their life's blood.
Hunt clubs, gun clubs, Ruritans, churches, little community centers in the sticks, etc.
These non-profit organizations are important in small town America.
These are the genuine non-profits, not the ones running adverts on TV with their officers making gigantic salaries.

But I'll make another observation of what I saw during all my years on the Board at my club:
A great many of the players (many of them retirees) can spend a little on bingo and bowls and that's fine.
It's their evening out each week.
We'd always have some redeem their bad checks at the beginning of the month when they got their social security.
The PA laws on small games of chance kept those people from blowing ALL their money, as they would absolutely do at a casino.

There is an element also on public assistance that are...shall we say...irresponsible.
They can in no way afford gambling, but they do.
I strongly object to my taxes going through them straight into the pockets of casino operators.
Let them play the lottery instead, or bingo, etc, and have their fun that way.
Though I'd prefer there was no state lottery.
You can be realistic about things (people gonna gamble), but still keep reasonable restrictions.
At least money spent at a non-profit club on small games of chance goes to something positive.

I feel strongly about this, as you can tell.
    Okay, rant over. :p
