Best CB radio for my TRDPro....

Hey guys,
Any thoughts on Cb radios for Taco?
Just got 2019 TRD Pro and am looking for a CB/SSB Radio for the ride.
Don’t want handheld.
I was thinking of President McKinley unit. And putting magnetic antenna on roof.

 

That's the one I wanted to get, but I ended up with the Uniden Pro 520XL. Doesn't have SSB or Scan, but has PA and is only $40. I'm getting my HAM license for longer range communication now though. I'll still run my CB in the truck as a secondary comms.




I've since put a 90 degree connector so I can close my center console and ran a longer CB mic cable under the floor to have it come out near my legs and mounts to my vent for quick access.

Not like it’s a big deal.

 

Wireless charger isn't that good anyway. Something like this works much better for practical purposes.

not sure how you can stand it in that location. my knee already hits the switch area.

 

That's the beauty of the FCC President Bill radio - it's almost the size of an iPhone or a pack of cigarettes. It almost fits in the pocket just above the bed light & bed power switches.

I wanted a small SSB/CB also which is why I went with the McKinley! I'm very happy with it! A member here 3D printed a holster for me so I didn't have to worry about drilling into my new truck.



I'm running a 3' Firestik II on a Diamond K9000 LRMO motorized mount which is attached to my bedrack. I can raise it and lower it from inside by pushing a switch. I've read mixed reviews regarding our paint and fear it tearing/flaking off with a magnet over time. But I've heard great things about the Wilson antenna!

How did you get the dash apart to get right there

 

i didnt. i used self tapping screws with the bracket and i routed the wiring through the side at the corner. I did drill a small hole to give me enough room to fit through.

 

The best two CB radio's both have the capability of going from 26Mhz to 30Mhz.
