New 2019 EnTune map update available at dealer

Not at all where I live now. When I lived in Raleigh NC the expansion was rampant and there were new roads every month with new housing divisions. I don’t think there have been new public roads in my town for at least 40-50 years. If not more.

 

Is the update just roads and stuff or is it more along the lines of a graphical update as well?

It's all part of technology. Anyone who spends their life chasing the latest of everything might as well try and build a ladder to Mars. I work with a guy that replaces his TV and phone every year because he has to have the latest and greatest. He's taken back when I say that I don't really give a fuck about having the latest and greatest, it just has to work.

 

Funny, I was using a similar analogy recently. It was more pointed (modified to your quote) to the notion that we couldn't build a ladder to Mars as we'd constantly be upgrading the first 100ft to the latest and greatest technology, and lose sight of the scale it needs to achieve the goal.

I agree when it comes to technology and people always wanting the latest and the greatest. We already paid for the technology when we bought the truck. The technology is useless unless it works and if the maps are out of date then the technology doesn't work. Every other technology that offers a map service provides updates at no cost, so why should we have to pay.

 

Toyota wins the award with entune as the single worst stock navigation system on the planet...a map and compass is better than the one that comes with it, I'll pay them $169 to install any useful software....lol

Yeah if this isn’t making the radio have entune 2.0 and Apple CarPlay.. I’m passing.

 

I use the Navigation because my truck came with it. Although I do think it's shit overall, I've learned to use it because I fucking paid for it lol. It's actually starting be useful after figuring out how to use the voice prompt. Unless there's a pretty good update overall and not just the map, i ain't paying $169.

 

even though theres a "new map update" doesnt mean all the new roads in your area will be on that new update.

 

If it makes you feel better, my Lexus system and Nav is basically identical except it’s not a touch screen (too far away to reach). It’s got a little controller thing near the shifter. The difference is the Mark Levenson system attached to it which is phenomenal so at least something is.

The software is exactly the same, as a matter of fact since my car is a 16 and the Taco is a 19, I took out the SD card from the Lexus, put it in a reader, and reformatted it with an image I made of the Taco’s card. Instant update, works fine.

 

I used it like once. IMO it might be one of the most over rated features

 

I use it quite often. I feel obligated almost lol. I've started using the voice prompt to do web search then navigate to destination from there. If I'm parked then I will just type. When I get frustrated then I use Waze lol.
