Would you let a potential buyer take a hammer to your frame?

I've been noticing a lot if potential 1st gen Tacoma buyers come here to look for advice on what to look for when buying a truck.
For the most part, I agree with the advice they recieved.
The common advice seems to be:
    - Inspect the frame for rust by hitting it with a hammer
    - Do a compression test.
    - lift the rug to check for leaks
    - Take the truck to a mechanic to have them inspect it.
While I agree all of this is a smart move for the buyer, my question is, as a seller, would you let them do this to your truck?
Keep in mind I'm not selling my truck anytime soon. I believe in full disclosure when selling a vehicle (or anything else). With that being said, I'm not sure if I would let a stranger take a hammer to my frame, or pull the spark plugs or lift the carpet on my truck.
Bringing the truck to a shop sounds reasonable, except for the fact I'd be without my vehicle for that time period.
What are your thoughts in this.

If I asked to do so, and you said no, I would walk away. I would let someone check it out, so long as I could be present.

You don’t need to hit the frame that hard, so why not? Don’t see anything wrong with it

Depends on the price. If it was being sold for my usually premium asking price, I would show then how to do it without damaging it.

Unsure how one could damage a frame with a hammer considering a frame has to withstand much more on a daily basis.

So yes, I'd let someone take a hammer to my frame where they suspect could be a rust problem.

Let them hammer the frame, if it's solid you don't have anything to worry about.

For the record, my truck has a replacement frame from toyota. I've been costing it with Fluid Film several times a year. Hopefully I'm good for a long time.
Most of the trucks I see on craigslist here on Mass fall into 1 of 2 categories. They have replacement frames, or they have rotted frames.
I was just curious as to how fellow tacoma owners deal with this issue.

If you let them test drive it alone. What's to prevent them pulling plugs & hitting with a hammer out of sight?

I've sold over 30 cars since I started driving. I've never let someone go on a test drive without me going along with them.

Steel frame doesn’t break with a hammer. Not sure I understand the hesitation unless your frame is dickered and you’re trying to pawn it off to some unknowing person.

As the seller, you are supposed to disclose any issues to the buyer... so if you have nothing to hide and you are confident the frame is solid, you shouldn't be afraid of someone banging on your frame with a small hammer

You haven’t seen the frames in the rust belt then have you? Standard test is ball peen hammer test to see if it punches through the frame. This was the test Toyota used to base replacement.

That isn’t a steel frame at that point, though.
    It’s a piece of rust.

    I know the test.

Fun fact that most people don’t know. It’s not called the rust belt because cars rust there more than they would elsewhere with snow/ salt control.

It’s called the rust belt because it’s the section of the country where a massive economic downturn left all the steel factories to rust away abandoned. It’s basically the boomers dust ball.

For me moot point I have never sold a vehicle for more then scrap price most often I end up giving them away.

Since so many Tacoma owners are not aware of the frame issues as we hear of one every so often after buying a truck.

It does come down to Let The Buyer Beware

Besides in most cases if there is a problem a thumb works just as well

When it comes to buying something this old a lot of questions over the phone can eliminate going to look at junk and pictures are great to see a rusted frame. When you buy something this old you need to know what you’re looking at plain and simple.

I don’t think I’d let someone I don’t know start banging on my frame. Mine is as clean as the day it was replaced. Fluid film is great stuff. Ive never even done a compression test on my truck definitely not letting someone else do it.

Me personally, you can pry my truck from my cold dead hands, so you aren't tapping on anything, lol.

It's important to know the hammer isn't to try and "uncover" holes in the frame by beating the tar out of it, but to tap around and listen for a change in the sound of the "ping".

Let the seller know this is what and how you're testing, and they shouldn't have a problem with it.

Really, the hammer test is more for testing how bad the visible rust is, not to detect IF there is any rust. I know like with my CA frame, you wouldn't need to use the hammer test, it's pretty clear the frame is rust free, all the bolts, fittings, sheet metal, etc... is 99% rust free.

Wouldn't have a problem with someone hitting the frame with a hammer. It's not going to hurt anything. I'd even let them peak under the carpet a bit. It's only 4 screws to remove that panel and see what under the carpet. I would not let them do a compression test. Too easy to dick shit up if something falls in the hole.
