What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Ya me too. I'm excited

 

This is exactly what I was hoping to do & avoid bending. The new bolts & washers were pretty cheap too. I wanted to do this when I install my SPC UCAs

 

It'll work fine but I don't understand the desire to not slightly bend the sheet metal. It's definitely easy to do and can be bent back if desired. It's an area maybe 3 inches long. I used a 12 inch crescent wrench and bent short crescent wrench wide sections of it at a time. I bent it back with the same wrench. I previously wrote the passenger side was more difficult than the drivers side, but that bolt still only took 5 minutes per side. To each his own, do it however you would like to.

 

Gave the rear drums some long overdue attention. Wire brush rotary + caliper paint. Hit the calipers in front too, and used some anti corrosion flat black on other parts in the wheel well.

 

Found a way to take off my camper shell in my garage using just 2 ratchet straps. Only the 2nd time the camper shell has been off in about 7 yrs.

 

Makes me want to paint my caliper. Did you remove yours?

Screw it. Going to do my drum brakes again and my calipers. I think just regular paint should be fine for the drums right?

 

I would probably use high heat for any brake component paint. Its cheap insurance and a few bucks more gets you a really high quality finish and durability

 

Regular paint will burn off. Use caliper paint. one can of Duplicolor should do it.

 

When do you get the clunk? What suspension are you running?

Maybe the springs hitting the sway bars? I had to add a sway bar relocation bracket to avoid hitting the 887 springs on mine for whatever reason. Could also be the shocks topping out, common issue with OME suspensions. Think it’s called “over speed bump goes clank” or something along those lines.

Another possible clunk is from the bumper hitting your body. Hard to tell from the pic, but you should leave at least .5” gap between the bumper and body to allow for flex. My bumper ended up dropping a little one side, causing it to raise just a little on the other. Kept hearing a clunk when riding FS roads and took a while to figure out what it was.

Finally got a few things installed, rear bumps, front breaks and rotors, swamped my TC UCA's for SPC as I needed more adjustability, fabricated a 3/8 shock spacer to get rid of the toco lean. Used it to get a water heater. Busy weekend but I feel like I got a few things done.

 

Curious,what light are you running on your Prinsu ?

 

did u install the bolts backwards even with/after bending? Figured it make it easier on my truck if I ever have to work on my UCAs

Honestly not gonna lie to you but I have no idea what brand it is
A friend of mine got it for 500+$ and a month later changed it to a curved one and sold me this one for 100$
It works for now and it’s pretty bright but I’ll ask him what brand it is
