STUCK IN MUDD, UTAH CRAWL CONTROL DID NOT HELP

we had a trip near zion this last week and i got stuck in mud badly on one trail.

crawl did not work at all. we were stuck, it was getting cold and rain and snow were in the forecast.

It’s just a gimmick imo.

 

Crawl control cannot do anything if there's no traction to be had

 

Gimmick my ass, it is not anything close to a gimmick. Like others said you need something better than racing slicks to get traction. Crawl control has got me thru some pretty crazy stuff where a front locker was really needed.

 

Those tires are useless in mud or snow.

ETA: after watching your vid, you could have used some skinny pedal to.

You need tires, it's fun to buy tires.

 

Mud, you need to air down and get some wheel speed to clear out the treads. Crawl control is a tool, not a crutch.

Lower PSI & momentum.

 

Seems more like an inexperienced driver. You need momentum and better tires, not crawl control.

 

Chalk that up to inexperience and a good woman. Seriously though, invest in some recovery gear and tires before putting your family in danger.

 

How would crawl control help on that? Does it make the tires more grippy? Seems more like a driver comprehension fail. Title of the video is embarrassing.

That’s what I really dislike about the OP guy looking for YouTube clicks with this click bait title. Crawl Control is actually a powerful and useful tool if you know what to use it for, and when to use it. I’d hate to see Toyota take it away because a bunch of people keep hating on it, that haven’t seen it’s proper potential, or understand its function.

 

Afaik there has never been full instruction of when, where, or how to use that feature. Does Toyota run a saturday class to teach the nuances of the trucks super features? Or is there a book they produce that's better than the owners manual that barely tells you anything except the few things the lawyers want you to see?
