It’s moderately new tech. I’m for it myself right now way more than self driving cars and me giving up full control. The new safety system, to me, is a good thing, but still room for improvement. Mine has beeped 2-3 times for whatever reason I couldn’t see it needing too unless Superman flew in front of me so fast I couldn’t see it but I still think it’s a good idea.

Keep in mind, the tss is more advanced and ready for our world than Toyota’s auto head lights. I tried them a few times and I bet I’ve pushed off a lot of drivers! Therefore I don’t use it :)

I'll be paying attention to this thread, from my observations it is more of a nuisance in it's current function than good. even in the lowest sensitivity setting it will still beep with my foot on the brake sometimes... not cool when it happens. Apparently others have experienced similar occurrences.

I believe mine is also on the lowest setting. I will have to double check.

Case in point for myself. We’re driving through the mountains today and I lean forward to look at a cabin high up in mountains that my wife was pointing at. As soon as I looked up I instantly didn’t see it so looked back to road. Wife said no it’s towards my side so I looked once again. As soon as I looked up it seemed my truck started beeping and sure enough I was quickly approaching a vehicle.

I’m not ashamed as it can happen to anyone and I’m glad it happened then. I’d have likely stopped anyway but would have slammed the brakes rather than a firm stop.

You're not ashamed you almost killed someone because you weren't keeping your eyes on the road?

That was taken totally out of context :)

And no I came nowhere near hurting anyone. The truck sensed I wasn’t slowing down as quickly as I should have and beeped at me. If you were in the truck you’d have seen the situation as I came nowhere near their bumper nor had to press the brakes very hard. So yes I’m not ashamed I took my eyes off the road. People actually blink too and people yawn which numerous times close their eyes

The settings do make a difference, only beeped twice to me on the lowest setting, but still bugs me a bit when it does it

Forgot to come back and reply here.... since my last post I did check the setting and it was on medium. I set it to low so we'll see how that goes. I had my lane departure set to low, but the pre collision was on medium before now (thought I had it all on low already).

this is not mandated technology so, you can opt to have it disabled. you may have to pay for the service and sign a waiver but, you can opt to disable it at this time. Your results, may vary. Ski

I called 5 local dealerships. None were willing to do it for "liability reasons."

Just buy a tech stream set up off of Amazon and make as many changes as you want yourself.
