I have a 2000 Tacoma Xtracab that is lifted with a straight axle in front and basically has no tire clearance issues. Am currently running Toyo MT 285/75R17 tires on 17" x 8" wide steel Toyota rims. Great and rugged wheels by the way but with about 1" of offset.

Recently did trail work that many experienced off road drivers would consider passe but given my current vehicle and weight distribution caused me some concerns. Most of these trails are in the Death Valley area.

We did Echo Canyon into the Amargosa Valley, the Mojave Trail, Swansee grade and Inyo Crest to Cerro Gordo, Steel Pass into the Saline Springs, Warm Springs Canyon over Mengel Pass and then the Pleasant Canyon trail into South Park. We wanted to reach Brigg's Camp but lost daylight in a very tense situation where my close friends completely stock 1978 HiLux with 3.0 liter V-6 and tiny tires reached the end of his rope. Anyway, we retreated and made it back home safe and sound.

I want to purchase steel 17" bead lock rims, ideally 8" wide and hubcentric (I can live with a bit wider if necessary) and am looking for offsets in the 2" - 3.5" range.

Can anyone guide me into a vendor that makes my perfect wheel? I need a bit wider footprint to compensate for the high center of gravity from the lifted bed and canopy/

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

That would be a great suggestion if I didn't have nearly new 17" Toyo MTs that I would like to reuse. Very affordable and I am sure plenty rugged.
