Thanks. Thats probably at least 3500.
IMO these tacos can pull a good deal of weight.

With all due respect, staying below a posted speed limit is not impeding the flow of traffic under the law. You must stay above a posted minimum of, for example, 45 mph on many limited access highways. That is fine and respectful. Your speed limit when towing is what is unsafe to tow at. It varies with the weight, vehicle and conditions. In inclement weather, it maybe 25 mph. Other travelers have an obligation to be respectful of you’re limitations if you’re traveling lawfully.

I’ve never had anymore problem going below posted limits but above minimums while towing then a semi does on a hill. Now, if you can’t safely maintain “minimum” speeds, get off the highway and try to travel an alternate route.

    Exactly....imo, you’re good to go.
But, I don’t ask mine to tow greater then that substantial distances on a highway at highway speeds.

Sorry....It does. You may be asked to stop at a weigh station and checked if you appear out of control, even under a posted speed limit.

What I typed was confusing I admit.. what I meant was that whether you are towing an empty trailer or max weight, in this state towing is towing and thus you need not exceed 60 MPH... I also just found out today that you can not use the 3rd lane on 3 lane or more high ways.

Wow! What a response. I never thought my question would create such a huge amount of feedback. All responses good and bad, serious and funny were much appreciated. Even the ones about the Ridgeline. Sorry, no pics of the ‘89. That went when the kids came, although I could probably sell it for the same price I sold it for 27 years ago. The towed unit in question will be a camperized dual axel 18 foot cargo trailer set up to sleep two as well as carry our mountain biking gear. Although it has a max gvw or 7000 lbs, I’m planing on it being around 4500lbs maxed out. Planing a trip down the west coast from Vancouver island then over to eastern Oregon and maybe into Idaho. From what I’ve read and heard we should be just fine. So again thanks for all the input and have a great new year.

You'd pay more for disc brakes, and Toyota would actually make a higher profit on them.

And you would never benefit from them in the real world. And you would have to maintain them more. And the maintenance costs would be higher.

Rear drum brakes all the way.
