    Yo SteveoTaco,

The frame is by no means okay. This Tacoma has to go back to the dealership you purchased it from, and they need to buy it back at exactly what you paid for it plus some additional funds for your trouble. If they fail to oblige, I would seek out an attorney.

    Good Luck,
    Paul

    Nah.

The japanese are just a stubborn bunch, culturally. They don't use brine in Japan (at least I don't think so), and for a good portion of their market, it's not a big deal.

I think they just severely underestimated the issue, and it took WAY too long to get that train to change directions. Even the 2nd gens have rust issues. And I'm betting the turd gens will too.

In reality, ALL vehicles in those climates will eventually have rust issues. Most of them just aren't reliable enough to see their frames rust thru.

They salt the roads in Japan too. You don't see rust buckets as often because safety inspections are much more severe and most cars become too expensive to keep on the road before they become a rotbox. But, if you've ever imported a vehicle from Japan, you'll have seen the rot boxes- they get foisted off on the international market a lot.

That looks awful! I'm not being a smart @$$ but how did you miss that while looking at it? You're probably stuck with it. Keep us updated with what the stealership says.

This isnt the result of driving on the beaches in pensacola because they do not allow it. This is the result of it being on the salty rustbelt roads of PA and Ohio.

Like you, I bought my truck from a dealer on a rainy day. However, I did spare a few minutes to look underneath and see what she has been doing for all these years before a said "i do" with my signature. Threaten to sue if they will not return. Call a lawyer if you want. You are probably screwed bc it was sold "as-is", but lemon laws should apply. Good luck mate.

You guys are a bunch of drama queens. That truck is nowhere near as far gone as you people are making it out to be. Outside of the front brake backer plates being rusted through the rest of that is basically surface rust and a little time with a wire wheel and spray paint and it will look new again. I've seen far worse.

OP Take the $650 the dealer offered and get it cleaned up and enjoy your new truck. let this be a lesson for future purchases to be more thorough on inspecting vehicles you plan on buying and move on.
