Removing swirl marks (car wash)

So I knew better, but wanted to clean my car quickly after wheeling yesterday. Against my better judgement, I went through a “soft touch” automatic car wash for the first time in my life.

I thought all was well until I examined it this morning in the sun. There are horizontal swirl marks towards the rocker area/lower door area on both sides.

Tried several strengths of Meguiar’s polish to no avail (Swirl remover 2.0 and Ultra Cut Compound) . Will a professional buff job resolve ?

it’s only visible on the bottom area of both sides and in direct sunlight

 

Clay bar will do the trick.

 

Clay bar for removing swirls? Isnt it only to remove contaminants?

Pretty sure you need polishing compound for those.

 

Isn’t the paint thicker at that location? Maybe scratchX 2.0 would work.

 

Youtube will be your best friend. I follow quite a few guys on there that do detailing,and have videos about what to do for swirls.

I get the need to do a quick wash though. I've been tempted to run mine through one,but I can't deal with the swirls. So dirty truck it is until the weather cooperates lol

 

That sucks man, but those dont look too bad. Hit it with any polishing compound, apply some pressure when you do it. Then, apply wax and it should be good.

You dont need a buffer or anything to do that.

 

Screw all these new cloth washes. Need to go back to touch less systems. Does nothing but rub dirt into your paint and scratches it to shit. I’d be grabbing a buffer and never do that again.

Those are some pretty bad swirls. You will need a DA polisher and personally I would start off with Griots Fast Correcting Cream with an orange foam pad. If you like the results you can stop there, if you want a better finish you can use their finishing cream with a black foam pad.

Meguires M-205 and a DA Buffer.I'm no pro by any stretch of the imagination,but it worked wonders on my 2013 black mustang.

 

205 is good, but it dusts a lot and isn’t as easy to use as the griots stuff in my opinion.

 

meguires 100 and a varible speed polisher use it all the time removes swirl marks and scrates

Compound, polish then wax. Works great.

 

Griot's garage makes some good stuff. Someone swiped my bumber and scratched it up. Used what everyone has recommended. Compound and polish. Looks good last long time.

Clay (or nanoskin is what I use) and a two step correction and polish will get you all shiny again.

 

Start watching Larry’s YouTube channel called Ammo NYC. You’ll learn way more than you ever wanted to about detailing paint. Be careful though, it’s a long and deep dark rabbit hole.

 

Thanks guys. Tired it by hand and no dice. I ordered a DA polisher and will use the products I currently own to see if that works. . If that doesn’t cut it, Griot’s Garage it is
