I’ve been looking for this too, pretty much everything I’ve seen is some sort of track mounted on the top and bottom of window with a custom plate or crossbars to attach the boards. I’ve been wondering if you could mount the rails from inside the bed.

They used something like 1.5”x1/8” flat aluminum bar with probably 3/8” hardware, and knobs with a 3/8” nut insert. Looks pretty cool.

i dont think rivnuts will really keep tension in fiberglass, maybe rubber well nuts? or just straight through bolt and nut with regular and rubber washer

@Chux share some pics/info about the design itself? I’m curious what method you used to attatch the rails and what you made the crossbars with

I ordered 2 sets of Thule cap rails for cross bars. Drilled threw the window casing of the cap and bolted them in. Then fabbed what I call “bridge mounts” out of 1/4” aluminum angle. After that I used all threads as the mounting post. Also fabbed aluminum plates for the outside of the Treds to sandwhich it tight and held down with matching wheel lugs as on the truck, not as good as a lock but will deter someone from stealing them without tools. I eventually got all the mounts powder coated. Here’s some pics..

I’ve mounted my Treds several ways on the roof rack as I reconfigured my build. I actually ended up with nowhere to keep them and the cap windows ended up being the only spot left

IMO any extrusion track would work.. just adapt the hardware as needed.

I thought you can only use track advertised as “overland” compatible:notsure:
