Yeah-I see why everyone is disappointed with the @Baja Designs sae fogs when comparing to the DD sae fogs.

Hey guys Baja Designs SAEs outperform the competition. Lol

Are you gonna send them back and go a different route?

I’m going to give it a few days and try out a few things. I was definitely expecting much brighter and looking at the sS3 I’m likely to go that route. But I’d rather see if adjusting the aim will help. Don’t really want to have to deal with a return.
I’m just not sure if my expectations of an amber light being brighter than the oem was flawed or if it’s just these fogs.

From the pictures I’ve seen I think it’s clear the SS3s and even rigids are way more intense then the Baja Designs yellow for yellow

Are you saying you don’t feel the Baja Designs are brighter then stock?!?

Compare my peak intensity measurements of the TRD H11 fog vs Baja white and selective yellow below. Now this is peak intensity, the OEM halogen pattern isn’t as uniform as the SAE LED alternatives. But stock I measured at 203 peak lux at 18’. You can compare those to my Baja measurement below. Keep in mind the H11 TRD fogs are higher in output than the H16 or H10 offered in other years/trim levels.

So both options are lower lux than the factory. So why am I paying to “upgrade”? Seems there is no benefit. What am I missing?
The thing is; I have a light bar in the bumper, so thought the amber would improve actual adverse weather driving. And maybe that’s why I’m still thinking the yellow will be okay for that, just not to use for improved night brightness.

That’s pretty shameful I thought for sure they’d be an improvement over stock.

For the same money you can get into a set of SS3 pros in yellow and from the looks and reviews they’d be a substantial improvement over stock. I’d box those up and send them back that’s way too much money to spend for basically a color change.

I'm glad i decided to return the BD...So after canceling my BD light they showed up anyways. I took them back to 4Wheel Parts for a return and they really didnt want me to return. Even told me that the Rigid lights are exactly the same in their design and that I was returning them for no good reason...:argue:

Hoping crashnburn80 is able to review the SS3s soon and then I can decide. If they’re no brighter than stock now sure I need to replace the fogs. Maybe just get aux ambers instead

Stock H11 TRD fog, 203 peak lux (I should have aimed this a bit higher):

Baja (pre-fix) white 173 peak lux (151 for yellow):

You can see that you get a more uniform and much taller pattern, that and reduced current draw with LED. But if you had the higher performing H11 TRD fogs peak intensity is less than stock at 18'. If you had the much lower output H10 or H16 OEM fogs, you'd be starting from a much lower baseline and it would likely be more than stock.

Compare Bajas 173 and 151 lux readings to the chart in the original thread. You can see where they place in intensity. Keep in mind they do have the tallest pattern area, so just looking at intensity alone doesn't tell the whole picture. But Rigid's D-series and the KC G4s also have taller patterns than the rest of the lights in that chart, though not as tall as Baja.

But if you look at the Rigid 360s, their pattern is also taller than the D-series and G4s but still has much higher intensity output, linked below.

All I can say is provide your feedback directly to Baja.

Those rigids are certainly an improvement as well. Not sure how I missed those before I purchased the BD SAEs. Thanks for all your info.

Anyone know of deals on the Diode Dynamic SS3’s or rigid industry d-series that’s still going on?

I’ll check it out. Yeah I almost ordered from lightwerkz last night as the pricing was still valid. This morning it had gone up. Lol

Got the SS3 SAE Pro fogs (6000k) installed on my 2019 4Runner. I can post some beam pics later if anyone's interested. Haven't had much of a chance to test them but I took a short drive the other night after installing them and they blow my old Morimoto xbs out of the water. I do wish they were a tad warmer but the spread on the road still matches nicely with my Xenon Depot XV2 HIDs which are 4800k.

I also switched from the Morimoto XB to DD SS3 pro select yellow fogs. Night and day difference. No pics, but seriously, these fogs are the real deal. No snow in the current forecast, I wish there was a blizzard on the way so I could really test these out in the conditions I bought them for.
